The last "free line" wasn't free, and made me lose my grandfathered plan, even though I was promised multiple times it was fine. Proceed with caution.

hmm are you sure? so if I walk in to Costco and just add a line it would automatically be free? I am on the Magenta Plus plan and I know i qualify for the free line..
I just chatted with T-Force, stated that it looks like theres a free add a line tomorrow and if I could do that at Costco, they replied: - "...That is an excellent question, and great news! your plan is eligible for a free line! You may add the line at Costco..."

I followed up to verify - "Great, so if I go to Costco and add a line do I need to tell them anything about the free line? Or do I just have them add a line and it will just be free simply because I qualify? "

Got this reply - "To get this offer, you must have at least 2 paid voice lines and activate at least 1 new voice line on a qualifying rate plan during the promotional period. No need for a code or anything like that. Your credits should begin within your first bill cycle after activation, but in some cases, it may take up to 2 bill cycles to begin. You will receive a text message within 24 hours of qualification confirming your enrollment into the promotion."

So - with that I'm confident in going to Costco, and having the chat saved just in case I need them to fix a screw up from Costco or this rep was just wrong.

Hello! I have two questions that I hope can be answered.

1) I have soc: FRLTULF2, how many free lines can I essentially have on that plan?

2) Can Magenta Unlimited 55/ Megenta Plus Unlimited 55 take advantage of these free line promotions as well?

That's weird if the free line doesn't match your other lines. I haven't had that happen to me and I have added 3 voice lines over the years
This happened to me as well..they said the system didn't enabled the "data" so they manually did it. I made sure they note on my account to not charge me for this, just in case. It wasn't a big issue just weird. I couldn't get data to work and found out the system "forgot" to enable it. LMAO

As op comments, if you do EIP for Samsung S20 FE on the free line, you will lose free line credit.
Excellent point - and I forgot to mention in my first post that I will be adding the phone to another line that is upgrade eligible - NOT the new free line. Based off of what I'm reading that will be ok, as it states " if you purchase a phone on EIP on the free line that would normally qualify you for a phone promo listed above, it will force the phone promo over the free line."

I really wish I would have added that to my original comment, don't want to lead anyone astray. It is edited now to include that though!

Careful with this. I got a 'free' line in July that ended up not being free. I worked with customer service for 4 months trying to get it resolved. Even though all the documentation said that it should be free, their computer system wouldn't let it be free, and would move it back to paid about 4 days after the CSR moved it back to free. I literally spent at least 10 hours working on this over the months. So, I am now paying for the 'free' line.
I had the same issue. I had it escalated to corporate, and they had the same issue with the free line discount falling off after a few days.

That's not always true. I did the free line last time and it does not include data. I might be able to convince T-Mobile to add data for free but I haven't tried yet because it's a backup line only for voice right now.
It depends on the original plan.. if your original plan is included 2.5gb which is grandfather plan then u will have it 2.5gb but u have to go into your account and change it for the new line.

The real question is how to combine the costco deal with the pixel 4a 5g trade in offer.

What was the eventual outcome? Did it resolve in your favor?

I think you should be able to go to T-mobile store after addding and pick up the pixel. It is not excluded and you can get "add a line" deals as long as they were in affect when you added the line.

Not an expert, but 1. I don't think there is a limit on how many free lines you can have, but FRLTUF2 can have max 8 lines, so you can have up to 6 free lines. 2. I don't know.

What was working, you were able to add a phone with the same line - or are you saying you can't add a new line and upgrade another existing line?
