The last "free line" wasn't free, and made me lose my grandfathered plan, even though I was promised multiple times it was fine. Proceed with caution.

Called them and they want to charge me 10 bucks for the card and 20 for blag blag blah, is that normal?

Same..they want to charge $30 😔😔
Yes, that's normal. $10 for SIM card, $20 for assist fee. You can just go add a line yourself at my.t-mobile.com and that'll just cost you the $10 SIM card fee. Or try calling again and see if you can find a nice rep who'll waive one or both of the fees. Or go do it at Costco wireless kiosk and not only won't you be charged these fees, you'll also qualify for a $200 rebate.

Any grandfathers out there? I have a FT1000 BTV PAU plan. Obviously not on the list - like seeing an endangered species at the zoo. Who can report success in adding a free line to a grandfathered account?

I'm on an older TMobile One Plus Promo plan $80 for 2 lines unlimited everything.
Actually I have the same, with a Free line already, I called and the associate told me I was eligible...but I had to switch to the magenta plan. Last time there was a promo like this they told me I was not eligible, only if I switch to magenta. And I would lose my 20% forever discount. This time the guy was like yeah we can do it. But went I brought up the comment from my last year interaction... he then said oh yeah t-mobile one and magenta are the same...but different name (which is partially true but not completely). He then ask me for a credit card to finally the order. I told him I would stay with my 2 paid lines + 1 free and not make any changes.... didn't feel comfortable going forward with it....I know how these phone companies work..once u loose a grandfather benefit to get it back is none to impossible.

Just got done chatting with T-Mobile online. I have FRLTUL2LP. Initially I was told it was indeed eligible, got all the way through everything and whoops not eligible afterall since I have a third line already (paid line not free) and that plan is capped at 3 lines. If you are on Fruitloops with only 2 lines might be worth it to chat them up and see if you are able to get it.

They offered to change my plan to something eligible which would give me the same base price of my plan now, 3 lines for $178, but I would lose Kickback on 2 of the lines and my All In Promo on the 2 original lines giving us free HD on those two lines would be gone as well. Not sure its worth it, but then again how import is HD on a phone? It would open up future free line promotions as well though....decisions decisions. lol

so I've had one 611 phone rep and one facebook chat rep both tell me that I can NOT get the free line if I buy it at Costco.

I know other folks have been adding a line at Costco and getting discount confirmations.

(we've also had people who looks like they get the S20FE for $99 option stacked with the discount, even though that's also explicitly disallowed in the terms)

I wonder which is right?

This is annoyingly confusing. Expert phone rep said the s20 fe $99 promo is stackable with free line.

Added line and did number porting at Costco. They did seem to know about the free line and said it would show up with a monthly fee but it'll be discounted on the account later. My account shows Line on Us 2 for $20, but that could be the previous promo since the current one seems to be Line on Us 3. I'm contacting T-mobile to make sure it's free.
I ported a GV number and submitted the rebate on T-mobile's site. There have been mixed reports here so we'll see. (The rebate submission link is at the bottom of the T-mobile website. Use the 2020SwitchP2 promo and the number I ported in.) Costco asked what account number I was porting from and I told them just use the GV number as the account. That and the PIN is all I needed.
For the new line, they just need the IMEI of the BYOD phone. I didn't even need it with me, just the IMEI. They gave me a free SIM for it. They print out paperwork with all the info you need for the Costco rebate. I used the ported number for the submission.
How to unlock GV number and how to get the pin for that? Also can we buy those $20 phones from Walmart and then port that number?

Tried at Costco but it was too much of a hassle and the rep couldn't figure out what to do. I think ill just add it over chat and give up the chance at $200. Please note the Costco rep said I needed to give him the imei for the byod or he couldn't process it.

Given that Magenta and Essentials are the current plans, T-Mobile One is now grandfathered. So is Simple Choice. Many on those plans have added a free line.
