The last "free line" wasn't free, and made me lose my grandfathered plan, even though I was promised multiple times it was fine. Proceed with caution.

It was free for me. And still is. And I've been in a grandfathered plan for years. Didn't change mine. Aorry about yours.

How do I add the free line and get the Pixel 4a 5G for 50% off on T-Mobile's website?

Do I add the line first and then purchase the Pixel? Or is it the other way around?

I don't have to input a promo code or anything?
In my case after speaking with the rep, I was told to go into your account, select your newly activated line and purchase / upgrade device from that line and go through the process + trade in and will qualify the pixel 4a 5g promo.

I will do this some time tomorrow and see if it actually works now that I see my account shows the free line promo.

You should be able to as long as your plan is eligible based on what have been discussed so far in previous comments.

But I'm not an expert and totally new to this.

Better go to the first few pages and read the comments yourself to be sure in case my understanding is wrong.

I tried to reaching out to T-Force online yesterday. Looks like they're slammed. I'm sure it'll get sorted out eventually.

Here's my data point for those who care:

1. Verified my plan SOC is on the eligible list
2. Went to Costco to add the line onto my account and rep seems to know what he is doing except he wasn't able to help me port the number with new activation
3. Walked out with paperwork and instructions for the $200 costco cash card
4. 7 hours later, my account is still not showing free line promo message and monthly bill shows extra $20 for my plan
5. Decided to call 611 to verify my eligibility and was told my account does show free line promo.
6. Also verified with rep that the free line qualified for $100 port-in rebate as well as Pixel 4a 5g promo (rep went back to read the promo details before confirming)
7. Rep advised she can help me with port in but advised me to do/purchase the Pixel on my own to avoid extra fees
8. Completed port in with rep on the call and she also send text to my phone for the promo code and rebate instructions
9. I ported in number from an unlocked GV # which the rep did not mention it is ineligible (will see how this goes)
10. Rep told me to wait until port-in is completed before I log into my account and purchase (upgrade device) the pixel from the newly activated line to qualify for the Pixel 4a 5g promo
11. After hanging up the phone, about 1 hr later, went back to my account and saw that both port in number is updated as well as the free line on us promo message in account (at this point, it's been about 8 hours after I walked out of Costco, so not sure if it just takes time or the port in helped update the plan)
12. Will be making a purchase of Pixel 4a 5g with the advised instructions tomorrow and hope for the best (was told by rep that the pixel device is not tied to new line but the promo credit will, so I should be able to use Pixel with any of my other paid lines)
13. Will then try to complete and submit the rebate forms after I complete the purchase of Pixel phone and then hope for the best!

May be a dumb question, but curious, what do folks do with free lines. I am assuming they already had the phone lines for their family members.

you can cancel the paid line after 90 days and still able to keep the free line if you have 2 or more line at all time ( not include the free line)

yes. as long as you are on eligible plan, you should be able to diy. infact if you want the free 4a5g, adding line and ordering phone in one transaction is way to go. learned it hard way.

Quick FYI while the Costco screen shot in wiki says $200 promo until 11/25 the actual kiosk paperwork says until 12/3 so it looks like you have a few more days to get it.

Oh I did not realize that you could do it. Repped. Question can I move that paid line number to this free line before cancelling?

I don't understand this $200 Costco card deal. So what did you end up getting at the end of the day?
