It's the perfect base to upgrade the RAM and SSD yourself for much cheaper than on the retailers' stores, to make it one of the most powerful laptops for the best price possible.

Easily upgradeable with 16GB or 32 GB of RAM for $50 or $100 respectively, and a 1TB or 2TB SSD for $100 or $200 respectively.

Basically where it's been all along.. if you upgrade it's over $1k laptop.. might as well wait for the 30 series (if a primary reason to buy is gaming).. mfg/retail play too many games on pricing. Some can be accounted for in tariffs and the predatory pandemic pricing, but not all..
Yeah, this is not accurate at all. The 1660ti version has been hovering around $1,000-$1,150 all year. I didn't even know the 2060 version was officially out.
This is an incredible steal.
Sure if you don't want to change anything, this won't do, but if like me you look for a laptop with 32GB and 2TB of SSD (or even 1TB), these options are at outrageous prices usually, because the retailers gouge you for anything above 8-16GB RAM and 256-512GB SSD.
Here you have the smallest amount possible: 8GB RAM+256GB SSD, so you know you haven't lost money if like me you know you are going to upgrade. For instance any laptops with 16GB+512GB SSD are useless in that case, and usually more expensive.
In addition to that, the HP OMEN are apparently decently well built.

What will be interesting to see are the 3060 variants but the problem is that those laptops will still be 1400-1600 dollars. And availability on all 3XXX chips that will be dicey until 2021. Who knows when we will actually see them out on laptops.

One thing to note is it's a heavy beast at nearly 5.5lbs. Not something I'd like to carry around every day.
So for 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD, the deals could be seen as close, but if you want 32 GB RAM (or more) and 2TB SSD (or more, the 4TB SSD exist now), then this one is better for sure since you start $50 cheaper, and you have the RTX 2060.
This is an incredible steal.
That's the predatory price collusion at mainly best buy and Amazon all pandemic long. .
