Not display four fields on the screen, all the watches can do that.
Even the $800 fenix 6 pro or whatever can only do 2 app datafields.
It was a rare weird thing they did on the 735 that bloggers noticed.
If this watch was $100 I'd buy it in a heartbeat as a spare. But without any more CIQ updates, no barometer, it's basically never getting any more features than it has.
It also has the "old" gps chip inside. All the new garmins now use the sony chip.
For $170 you could do a lot worse but another $100 gets you a much newer watch.
Also this may have more swim features than your average forerunner. DC Rainmaker reviews will detail this for those interested.
This is a pretty good price even just for the running features, but as noted the tech is fairly outdated and garmin's newer offerings have evolved. Both in gps and hrm.
If you're mostly considering it for running I would say you may be better off getting a good deal on the Forerunner 245 (currently $249 directly from Garmin). You get the new HR and GPS sensors and new features like PacePro (which surprisingly is only available on Fenix 6 and 245/745/945) and at least a couple more years of updates.

However I think it's the only garmin watch that lets you run three datafields at once instead of two, even to this very day with watches costing several times more.
No barometer or spo2 but both those features are iffy on even the more expensive models

My vivoactive 3 can do 4 datafields... I thought the difference with 735 was the ability to do a "triathlon" activity, which includes the three sports with transitions into a single activity. Other devices will do all three sports, but as separate activities.

Well it is for swimming, so I would hope so. Been swimming with mine for three years now.
I don't find the wrist one to be that accurate but I use it paired with the garmin chest strap which i prefer for better accuracy.

I find that old models have old batteries that don't hold charge as well. IMHO

This one is made for triathlons and does open swim. Many of the forerunners only track lap swimming or you can use in run mode.
