Beautiful speakers, would love to buy them. I have a Def Tech 15" Powerfield sub from the late 1990s that is still going strong. I always wanted a pair of the PM bookshelf speakers with the build on subs but always out of my price range back then.
There is definitely a def tech fan club, but I have the bp9080s in my theater matched with center and def tech rear paired with svs sub and it sounds phenomenal
These speakers are not worth $1600 lol. Get on fb marketplace or craigslist and buy a nice used pair of B&W or KEF that would blow these out of the UNIVERSE!!
Ps: not hating on defs...my first speakers were defs
I recommend find a place to listen to these before purchase. I listened to deftecs at best buy at $1000 ea and highs sound so harsh and absolutely terrible. Ended up with golden ear triton 7s and highs are much more refined at 700/ea.
More speakers in a Tower doesn't mean sound is going to be good. You can use dedicated sub for bass. If a tower can't get highs and kids right, no point have so many drivers inside

Sound is subjective to the ear. Your ear tone is obviously lower quality

Lol you come to this thread to promote B&W. Also, I owned KEF R300 and they sounded very harsh, but good for some stringed instruments. The real value is found in the smaller direct companies, like Ascend.
You really need to listen to speakers first. What one person thinks may not be what you think. Each of us hear differently. Test your ears and see what you can acually hear. If you cant hear above 12K, it would be silly for you to spend extra on speakers that go to 30K as apposed to 20K or 18K. When you start listening you will notice that speakers tend to shift towards a bass signature or treble slant. You listen to find the point that they fall on the that scale that sounds best to you. Some people buy speakers that sound good with few albums but they blow you away on those few albums.
