500MB high-speed data per month, more than enough for an Apple Watch. Option to go unlimited if you exceed in any month for that month for $5 more. That would be rare.

Includes calls and texts.

No taxes or fees for those on Magenta plans or other plans that bundle taxes and fees.

Easy to enroll, as it is now an option when you activate your Apple Watch

Appears to work for some on Simple Choice plans too.

Apple Watches can't be sync across two different carriers.

With that note if you guys want an Apple Watch stand alone device you can activate the line on different carriers. When going through the setup process on the Apple Watch select that you are setting it up for a family member. After that the watch will be setup as a family member and can be used by itself.

Only Apple Watch SE and Series 4 and above can do this.
The $5 plan worked for me and I have Simple Choice. I didn't have a watch plan though my watch is cellular capable so when I went to sign up, I had the option for the $10 or $5 plans now. Now I need to figure out how to downgrade my wife's watch plan since she rarely uses it on cellular.
open watch app in iphone ,enter last four ssn and add plan very simple , see my attached screenshot.

This is intriguing. Do you know what would happen if someone had an iPhone on Verizon and an Apple Watch on T-Mobile that were synced up (assuming it's possible)?

This is what I'm looking into. You still need a T-Mobile plan on the iPhone esim from the carrier from what I've been told, since the phone still has to number share to the phone to work.

According to apple's web site, your watch has to be on the same network as your phone.

One has to wonder, though, if using the simultaneous ring feature (which can ring any number when a call comes in) might work. I suspect that it would work just fine. Perhaps the issue is that when a call comes in and you have your phone and watch, the phone triggers vibration/notification on the watch. If you have simultaneous ring on, the watch will receive a call on your phone at the same time it is receiving it's own call. But that could happen even if your phone/watch are on the same carrier and someone calls your watch. Hmmm.....I have to try that.

For outgoing calls the watch first tries to use your phone through bluetooth or lan(?) and then tries cellular. That should work irrespective of carriers.

Net....I don't technically understand why Apple states that watch and phone have to be on the same carrier.

That makes sense although I'm curious enough to give it a try...

Thanks for the thoughtful response!

Not possible. You have to have service on the same carrier for both. The watch won't have its own number. It basically spoofs your number for the watch

How did you make the switch? I have SC and pay $10/month for my Watch. Don't really use a lot of data so the $5/month would be sweet!
