Still on TMO ONE All In Promo plan (FRLTUL2LP) which is never eligible for free lines?
This is a great (grandfathered) plan as it gives you 2 lines for $100 or $80 after 2GB data limit kickback on the 2 lines (or even less if you have the plan with T-Mobile employee hookup code). Plus with the additional promotion you get HD streaming, 10GB full speed hotspot and twice the international data speed (256kbs instead of 128kbs).
BUT... this account only supports 3 lines and unless you got the one free line they offered once under this plan you never got and will never get a free line with the plan.
But if the plan works out for you can move to another T-Mobile One plan (FRLTULF2) which cost a little bit more (2 lines for $120 or $100 after kickbacks) but you will be eligible for the free line and hopefully for additional free lines in the future (the plan supports up to 8 lines in total). The reps are also be able to move the kickback and ONE Plus promotion to the new plan. They might not do it immediately for the new free line but this is also possible and might need another try.
Plus the new plan includes $10.99 Netflix Standard HD account contribution which also needs to be factored in as a bonus.

As I wrote it needs some time and the right reps to make it happen as I struggled with reps in the past to switch to a different T-Mobile One plan and not ending up with a Magenta plan and losing the kickback and One Plus promotion.

Regarding costs to add new line
If you add the line via the website, youll pay $10 for the SIM card to be shipped to you.
If you add the line via a phone call, youll pay the $10 SIM card charge and also $20 for assisted set-up. It is relatively easy to get both of these comped.
If you have a spare sim-card or eSIM, you can use that instead of paying $10 for a new one (bear in mind that it may not be able to do SA 5G). You will need to call since the website does not allow re-use of old cards. (You can also do this via online chat support lines like in-app chat and t-force on twitter)
Expired cards do work, but you have to request a replacement. Again, no SA 5G.
If you have a Costco near you, they will give you the sim card and activate for you for free.

1)convert a existing paid voice to mi to make room for a free line, especially since there is a $5 mi available on TMo1 even if the last voice line added was <1yr still
2) swap the numbers thereafter from New voice to converted mi
Essentials would keep the cost the same as I had but lose some features and add tax.
Magenta is about $30 more a month but would gain netflix.
Not sure what to do here.

1. Confirm with agent that you qualify for a free line (I used the browser extension in the thread sticky and confirmed with the SOC code list). My T-Mobile account is new so I can't add a free line in the T-Mobile app or online anyway. The agent helped me move to T-Mobile 3 weeks ago and was familiar with this deal, since I'm sure a few people have taken advantage of it so far.
2. Buy T-Mobile iPhone SE 2020 64GB at Costco 10% discount ($359.99). I paid $27.90 in sales tax. It's sales tax off the full $359.99.
3. Agent will then enroll your new free line and activate your new phone.
4. Agent will provide you with print outs to apply for the $180 T-Mobile prepaid credit card rebate (it's not $200 like buying the SE direct with T-Mobile because the Costco price is 10% lower). Agent will also provide a print out on how to apply for the $100 Costco Cash Card. Both arrive 12-14 weeks from the date of submission.
You're also able to buy the SE 128GB, 256GB variants, if available in warehouse. At my warehouse they only had 64GB in Black or White available. However AFAIK you'll only get a maximum of $180 for the prepaid credit card rebate. T-Mobile website specifies a maximum of $200 in EIP credits regardless of which SE is purchased on that deal. By doing it at Costco you don't need to deal with the 12 months EIP credits, and just receive the 50% credit all at once.
My end cost for the SE is $107.89. Plus the free line of course. I'm on Magenta2 so all taxes and fees are included, carried over from my paid lines.

I chose to go with the SE since the reviews for the A11 were pretty terrible. This is for a spare/consulting work line, but I didn't want to deal with a slow budget phone. For people who want a free line and $100 Costco card and don't care about the phone received, the A11 is probably better.
