Still on TMO ONE All In Promo plan (FRLTUL2LP) which is never eligible for free lines?
This is a great (grandfathered) plan as it gives you 2 lines for $100 or $80 after 2GB data limit kickback on the 2 lines (or even less if you have the plan with T-Mobile employee hookup code). Plus with the additional promotion you get HD streaming, 10GB full speed hotspot and twice the international data speed (256kbs instead of 128kbs).
BUT... this account only supports 3 lines and unless you got the one free line they offered once under this plan you never got and will never get a free line with the plan.
But if the plan works out for you can move to another T-Mobile One plan (FRLTULF2) which cost a little bit more (2 lines for $120 or $100 after kickbacks) but you will be eligible for the free line and hopefully for additional free lines in the future (the plan supports up to 8 lines in total). The reps are also be able to move the kickback and ONE Plus promotion to the new plan. They might not do it immediately for the new free line but this is also possible and might need another try.
Plus the new plan includes $10.99 Netflix Standard HD account contribution which also needs to be factored in as a bonus.

As I wrote it needs some time and the right reps to make it happen as I struggled with reps in the past to switch to a different T-Mobile One plan and not ending up with a Magenta plan and losing the kickback and One Plus promotion.

Regarding costs to add new line
If you add the line via the website, youll pay $10 for the SIM card to be shipped to you.
If you add the line via a phone call, youll pay the $10 SIM card charge and also $20 for assisted set-up. It is relatively easy to get both of these comped.
If you have a spare sim-card or eSIM, you can use that instead of paying $10 for a new one (bear in mind that it may not be able to do SA 5G). You will need to call since the website does not allow re-use of old cards. (You can also do this via online chat support lines like in-app chat and t-force on twitter)
Expired cards do work, but you have to request a replacement. Again, no SA 5G.
If you have a Costco near you, they will give you the sim card and activate for you for free.

I don't have the Magenta plan. I have the One Unlimited 55+ plan for $60 (got in March 2018 right before they raised it to $70).
I believe my SOC code is ONE60TIFM which I don't see on the sheet. Thro - what is your SOC code?
Second, the $100 rebate is a money maker if it flies, which I alluded to in my last sentence of my previous post ( "Maybe buyers are motivated by the $100 Costco offer and then doing the A11 deal just because they can.") However, with the uncertainty surrounding the addition of this free line for many T-mobile customers, actually receiving the $100 Costco card is not a slam dunk. It may be denied and/or create potential account issues for those that try for it.
If all goes according to plan, one could ultimately flip the A11 for about $100 and score a $100 Costco card, but that is if everything transpires according to plan. Seems like a lot of "what-ifs" and extra work for $185-$200 net profit. Which is why I asked why people are buying the phone, since it is essentially an outdated device if one decides to keep it.
For LOU3, after I opened a free line at Costco, I chatted with T-Force trying to get the free Pixel 4a 5G with trade-in. The rep insisted charging me the $20 assistance fee and said to avoid the fee I could just do it myself online as an upgrade to the free line. She guaranteed I would get 100% credit even though the online order system only showed 50% even with trade-in. I gave in and ordered it online myself and she was right. My Account History is now showing the correct promotion with 100% credit.
For LOU4, this time the only available deal for the 4a 5G is 50% off with no trade-in. After I opened the free line at Costco, I went to my account and ordered a 4a 5G. But this time I made a mistake. I did it as an upgrade to my primary line instead of the new free line. I contacted T-Mobile and the rep told me the order was being processed and there was nothing she could do but she told me not to worry because it would still work. Again she was right. After the phone was shipped, my Account History is now showing a new entry indicating that my primary line (not the new free line) is enrolled in a promotion for the 4a 5G with 50% credit.
So it seems like as long as you recently signed for for a new line in your account, you'll get the eligible device discount regardless of which line you used to order the device.

Still debating whether to add a free line or not. Got an old iphone 6s laying around.
The iPhone 8 gets higher trade-in even though it is an older and inferior phone. So, get the iPhone SE as a phone to use and trade in a 7 or 8, or grab a 7/8 from the Internet to trade-in and keep or sell your SE elsewhere directly.
- Added a new line (got a new phone number, no port in)
- Bought Samsung A11 (32GB Black - per Costco rep the only option they carry for this phone) on the new line. Paid $161.99 + taxes
- Costco rep gave me paperwork for the rebates. $162 T-Mobile rebate (promo code: 2020COSTCOSAMSUNG7) for Samsung A11 and $100 Costco rebate (promo code: T01501) for a device purchase on a new line
- Within 30 minutes of adding the new line got a text from T-Mobile stating "Congrats! You will receive your promotional service discount from T-Mobile as long as you maintain eligibility".
- Logged into my T-Mobile account. The total bill amount remains the same with the new line. Like others reported, the 2020 Line on Us 2 discount line item now shows $40 discount (it was showing $20 earlier)
