Not true. Just reach out to @tmobilehelp on Twitter via DM with the imei and they'll unlock it for you. I just did it last week. No special approach required. The unlock was successful in 8 hours.

I got this phone when they had it for a different deal about a month ago. Switched from a normal S8. So far I like it, but no notification led, no ip rating and the lack of case options kind of suck. Also, have had a weird problem where it will just disconnect from my house wifi and reconnect. It happens frequently and is quite annoying.

5g drains battery faster than running a phone on 4g (in my case at least and I have s20 ultra) This phone is great and it's a nice upgrade for my father from his old s7 edge to this. He will definitely enjoy it. Thanks OP.
