Not sure if this was clear. According to Apple info for this part #, this is only the charger block.
"Charging cable sold separately."

It sounds like from discussion some people were expecting this to come with a cable.

Still, this is a good price for an Apple-quality 20W charger block. I've seen people do tear-downs of Apple adapters vs no-name eBay/Amazon 3rd-party adapters, and it's amazing the contrast in circuit complexity and also construction quality. The no-name ones seem to have much less circuitry and some of it looks like it was soldered by school children (it probably was...). If Apple designed all those parts as part of their adapter, I'm sure they were there for a reason. The no-name one with half as much circuitry probably isn't doing all the stuff Apple intended it to do. Or they just discarded all that costly useless "safety" stuff...
Since apple started to exclude this from the box, I made a resolution to just buy 3rd party chargers like anker and make sure i don't increase their charger sales
In all honesty, first year going all in on USB-C chargers Apple should provide them. I have family members using iPhone 7, 8 and X and when they upgrade they will not have fast chargers. Then, what will be the point of such upgrade. If they really cared about the environment rather than their revenue, they would release an iPhone every other year with the real upgrade value to their customers.

Good deal. Don't forget you need a usb-c to lighting cable if you will be using it on an iPhone/iPad with lightning charger port

Correct, but all of the new iPhones come with a USB-C to Lightning cable. So this AC Adapter is all you need if you have a new iPhone. Another option is to not get this AC Adapter, and just use your older USB-A to Lightning cables and AC adapters.

It's not. It's just a 20W PD charger. Staples just screwed up.
