I'm a total noob with tools and such but am moving into my first home in a few weeks. Would something like this be good to have around? Can't think of much applications other than for maybe plumbing issues? I've used a strap wrench for a lot of applications previously with success, but am curious to hear what people with more experience think. Thanks

These are more for mechanic work than home repair.

With relatively little experience you may be better served with an all in one homeowner type kit. These are an excellent buy for what they are but are more of a specialized tool IMHO.

If they're being cheapskates, why they have both 8mm and 5/16" though.

Normal people would often use these for:

put a BBQ grill together
tighten the garage door lifter
put the legs on a pinball machine
bikes, skateboards, trampolines
hang a flat panel TV
assemble the kids swing set
some plumbing
put new battery in auto
remove doors from frige to get through doorway
assemble or maintain lawnmower / snowthrower
change belt on clothes dryer or furnace
assemble basketball hoop/backboard
assemble telescope mount
install HDTV antenna
change anode on hot water heater every few years
assemble patio chairs and table
assemble any table saw, drill press, sander, bandsaw

Did they give you any hassle when you exchanged it with the "No Hassle Lifetime Warranty"?

Just to make it an even 10 of each system.

Last time this was posted someone mentioned that the ratchets are held in by plastic pins. Many reviews mention their ratchets falling apart. Not a huge deal if they're backed by a lifetime guarantee, but Lowe's seems to be fazing out Kobalt tools so best of luck getting them to honor it into the future.

The packaging is held together with plastic pins that proved very challenging for some Youtubers

I don't see any pins at all on the wrenches themselves

With 280 reviews and an average of 4.5 stars, I'd say the majority of people seem to really like them.

(and really, at $1.75 a wrench, even if Lowes went out of business tomorrow, I'd think you could get your money out of them, lol)

Pin was the wrong word, whatever the plastic ring is called that holds the ratchet mechanism in place. I totally agree that there's still plenty of value here, just assume that the warranty won't apply and that you may lose a few sizes over the long run due to failure.
