That's regular price here in FL. Also, this wok has a cheap nonstick coating that cannot handle high heat. A well seasoned $20 carbon steel wok from an Asian market, is super nonstick and durable, and will last a lifetime. Cheap nonstick cookware is useless once it starts to peel and becomes useless and wasteful materials for a landfill. Some hace argued that you can use steel wool and a grinder to completely remove the nonstick coating...but that is a lot of messy work to end up with a horribly scratched wok.
My roommate had this exact wok. It was garbage, lasted about a year. For anything nonstick, I highly recommend the startfrit line, it lasts forever and is worth every penny.
beware. i've tried this twice and it's a throwaway wok. food WILL stick. it's not easy to clean. i get about 5 uses out of it until i have to throw it away. i went through two until i got one from macy's for less than $20 on sale and it's amazing.
I saw a lot of woks in China town , not sure if they are good
Take your time to look through them and you should be able to find one that is good for you.
Make sure it is made from carbon steel. Bring a small magnet with you to make sure it can stick to the wok.
Make sure it has no coating. Coating can be black or light gray. You just need to look closely.
Carbon steel woks without coating are usually light and in silver color (They will change to dark brown after seasoning). Some woks are made from lightweight cast iron and are naturally black but they are usually more expensive and heavier than the silver-colored ones. It is a personal preference how light or heavy you like your wok to be. With proper seasoning, both can last for decades. Seasoning instruction can be found on Youtube. I went with a light one due to old injury on my wrist,
Pick the style you prefer:
flat bottom or pointed bottom: Flat bottom works on all stove stops. Pointed bottom requires a stove-top ring.
long wooden handle or double steel handle: Long wooden handle is heat resistant and allows to toss the wok when making stir-fry. Double steel handles allow it to be put into the oven.
12" or 14". 12" is good for a couple or small family. And also it is easy to find 12" lid from another pot/pan if you need to cover the wok. 14" is a good family size.
