To answer some of the many questions about the low trade-in value shown. I have done this sorts of trade-in with T-Mobile before, It's a 2 part deal, It doesn't show the full $800 amount, THAT'S NORMAL.

PART 1.The official trade-in value you see during the process is less than the $800 offer, because that's the trade-in value that Assurant (the phone goes to them not directly to T-Mobile,) pays for said phone. The Trade-In "agreement" is for the Assurant value amount.

PART 2. Once Assurant has received, assessed and accepted the trade-in, T-Mobile adds the difference in the form of bill credits to total the amount of the Promo.
So it shows Trade-In value $80, yes, that's what Assurant will be paying for the phone. T-Mobile will add $720 to that and spread it all out in credits for a 24 months term. A couple of days after submitting the trade-in, your account should show the promo in the EIP section. The promo name will be shown there and "Pending Trade-In".

Voila.

Awesome deal for my S9. Wonder if Costco comes up with rebate deal instead of this EIP deal. Prefer outright deal.

Would trade in be rejected if it is the back glass that is cracked on a S8+?

Go to samsung.com wayyyyyy better promotion than this, plus you get quite a few stuff for free. Tmobile is an scam, i traded in an iphons XS MAX in perfect condition, they said that the screen was cracked by the time they got it. promotion GONE just liek that... DO NOT GO WITH TMOBILE.
Same thing could happen with samsung.com. Besides, if you are worried about trade in, you could do this in store

Hmm, guess I should just replace the back glass even though their trade in just mentions cracked screen.

I got a free S20 FE. I could trade it in for free. Would the S20 FE be consider equal next year during trade-ins or a level below the S21? Any thoughts? I like that the S21 is smaller, bummer it doesn't had the SD card slot, but I never realistically use it.

You need to have the phone fully paid off first before trading it in.

There is no mention at all of any additional bill credits after the trade in value is given for your phone at check out(in 2 months I'm getting a flat trade in credit of $220). Are we just to assume the remainder ($43 per month) will automatically be given?

I want to be a little realistic here. Please, someone correct me if I am mistaken in my math.
S21 ultra 1380 + tax = $1493.85 (TX tax)
Down payment = $693.85 (incl tax)
Bal due = $800/24 = $33.33/month
Okay now for the trade in.
Let's say we are trading in something thats $800 in trade in value. Here's the math for that
Note 10+ trade in
Initial credit = $325 (this is not an immediate credit and shall be applied completely when the first bill AFTER submission generates)
Remaining credit = ($800 - $325) = $475/24 = $19.79/month
So final payment/month for a S21 ULTRA 512GB = $33.33 - $19.79 = $13.54
This value of $13.54 is what anyone trading a $800 trade in value phone shall be responsible for, for a 512GB S21 ultra.
One all the numbers are added
$694 (down) + ($13.54×24) ~$335 = $1029 final OOP cost
Please, after reading the above nomenclature, help me understand how it is even minutely a "good" deal?
Its an awesome deal if someone wants a "basic" s21, "no frills" device, but for the higher end version, this is DOA, deal.
Even if s21 ultra 128gb is factored into this, you "save" 180 off of 1029.
I am amazed at how we are so bad at math, collectively, that we think paying this much for a cell phone is a FP deal.......

EDIT : YES! I FORGOT the $325 instant credit for the said note10+ trade in. Depending on your plan and how much it costs, you may get anywhere upto 6 months free. the math only only takes into account what anyone shall pay OOP for the phone itself.
I got slightly different number. Where did you get the 694 down?

I'm thinking about trading for N10 Plus to S1 Ultra. Here is my math:

1200 S21 Ultra
325 quoted value today for N10 Plus, Minus
875 EIP for 24 months; Subtotal
875 / 24 = $36.5 payment per month without credit
800 - 325 = 475 Promo credit remaining for 24 months.
475 / 24 = $20 per month promo credit for 24 months.
36.5 - 20 = 16.5 per month payment after credits for 24 months.
Total out of pocket cost $396 + tax

Does anyone know if I need to pay off the trade in phone before I send it in or before I pre order S21?

Just bought 2 doing two upgrades. I received $270 in credit for my Note 10. $270 is instant credit to me, while the remaining $530 will be credit in 24 monthly payments. All you are paying now is the sale taxes for the device. This is a great deal for the customer and tmobile. Essentially after 24 months the phone came out free of charge (other than taxes).
