To answer some of the many questions about the low trade-in value shown. I have done this sorts of trade-in with T-Mobile before, It's a 2 part deal, It doesn't show the full $800 amount, THAT'S NORMAL.

PART 1.The official trade-in value you see during the process is less than the $800 offer, because that's the trade-in value that Assurant (the phone goes to them not directly to T-Mobile,) pays for said phone. The Trade-In "agreement" is for the Assurant value amount.

PART 2. Once Assurant has received, assessed and accepted the trade-in, T-Mobile adds the difference in the form of bill credits to total the amount of the Promo.
So it shows Trade-In value $80, yes, that's what Assurant will be paying for the phone. T-Mobile will add $720 to that and spread it all out in credits for a 24 months term. A couple of days after submitting the trade-in, your account should show the promo in the EIP section. The promo name will be shown there and "Pending Trade-In".

Voila.

Awesome deal for my S9. Wonder if Costco comes up with rebate deal instead of this EIP deal. Prefer outright deal.

What does that mean? I can't pay the remaining amount after trade-in full today and buy it?
Well, you can but you loose all your credit as you have to stay with TMob for the credit to apply. This is how they get you to stay with them.
Let's say you get $100 for your trade in, S21 cost 800 so you T-mobile will give you $700 spreading into 24 months as long as you keep the line. The most 3 scenarios are:
  • If you paid off the remaining and cancel the line, you loose your credits
  • if you paid off so you can use the phone somewhere else and still have line open, you continue to receive the credit
  • if you paid off and try to get another promotion like Iphone 13 with credit, you will loose the S21 credit as there can only be one promo credit active per line.
This is how I understand TMob credits. Only benefits if you plan to stay with TMob otherwise this deal is not for you.

I stuck with Samsung's flagships primarily due to sd card support. Losing the headphone jack was annoying, but I could live with that. No sd is a deal breaker for me as I take tons of videos of my kid, and even my 400gb sd fills up fast. Cloud sync eats up data and battery, and not to mention the high yearly cost of cloud data. Also, I prefer to have all my photos and videos on removable memory, so I can just pop it into a new phone without having to sync everything.

They do this just as high capacity sd cards are becoming increasingly affordable.

Samsung used to cater to enthusiasts who didn't want to deal with Apple's "my way or the highway" mentality, but they have totally lost that unique advantage.

F Samsung for doing this....so disappointed. Going to rock my $550 Amazon Warehouse Note 10+ as long as I can.
I really really hope you are doing back ups of that microsd card. Having worked for a company in the past that did MicroSD cards, too many horror stories of people losing everything.

S21 us a downgrade on all models, except the ultra which is a side grade. Lower resolution screen, plastic backs, no MST, no removable storage, etc.

Make sure you know what youre buying and not being baited in by a discount/trade in values.
I couldn't agree more. Folks should seriously look further into the details before jumping on S21 on the compromises made compared to previous generations and also why the starting price is $200 cheaper than S20.

https://www.cnet.com/news/galaxy-...per-price/

For those having questionable devices with minor blemishes, small screen damage etc, I strongly recommend trying to do this in-store for a quick evaluation.

I had a iPhone 7 with very minor crack in a corner of the screen that was accepted for full $800 trade in credit to purchase a 11 Pro. last year. I am sure this would have been rejected if I had shipped it.

Yes, I do back up the sd card. Also, have been backing up to Google photos on wifi, but unlimited free storage is going away, and I'm not paying $100 a year for that.

I have a Note 9 I want to trade in, and I'm interested in the S21 Ultra..

- T-Mobile is offering $800 for for it = pay $400+, but 24 month EIP..
- Samsung is offering $350 trade-in + $100 T-Mobile Discount = pay $712.49+, but get $250 to spend on accessories and 10% CB..

I think the price comes out almost the same at the end, just a matter of EIP versus paying upfront?
the second option costs $312.49 more, even with cashback you are better off with Tmobile. Plus you're not forced to spend $250 on accessories you may not need. Cash is king.

Are we sure the s10e is included at $800 TIV? I saw at least for the s20 line that they noted separately both "s20 series" and "S20 FE"
Galaxy S10 series - means it includes all

What's better? This or going to Samsung and getting an unlocked version right away?
https://www.xda-developers.com/sa...-citizens/

IIRC, Unlocked versions are the last to receive OS updates as Samsung prioritizes carrier specific versions first.

Yes, you need to stay for the full bill-credit term to have the device unlocked. And, you may be able to get a temporary international unlock from T-Mo in some cases.

If already a T-Mobile customer, this is a good choice and even better if you can combine with any Samsung promos.

Call Customer Service to confirm.

Last year October during iPhone 11 Pro / Pro Max deal, we were able to trade in an S10e and got full credit for the iPhone 11 Pro Max. If it isn't explicitly excluded, then it is part of S10 series.

So on T-Mobile website. Under the deals tab, you go to Samsung. It does show you will get $100/$200 credit depending on the S21 model you get. To redeem from the shop app from Samsung. T-Mobile is offering better trade in values especially for someone trading in a pixel or somewhat older iPhone. A certain amount is applied and the rest is applied as bill credit. If you plan to stay with T-Mobile and haven't moved. The 24 months honestly should be a no brainer.
Wow, just went to that link and screenshot it. That makes this deal great even with all of the various discounts/tricks at samsung.com. I don't mind the bill credits, I've been with T-Mobile for 14 years now.

So do we also get the $60 accessory credit for the pre-registration?

So $800+tax-$800 (S10e) and $100 and maybe $60 more accessories credit.

Right?

Just placed an order for free upgrade of my S10e. It would show value as $160 but thats okay. Gets adjusted when they send the new S21. Awesome deal
No it doesn't, you get the $160 credit and then they pay you the rest over 2 years by charging your bill and crediting the same amount back (if you cancel the line before 2 years is up, you lose the credits

Thanks! My Note 8 in pristine condition gets $400 while a scratched up S9 gets $800.
