These high end ones do not go on sale too often. Cuckoo is comparable to Zojirushi and Tiger.
This is a mid-upper tier model that fits everything I'd like a rice cooker to do. If you're only cooking basic white rice once a month or even once a week, I would not recommend this.

What would you recommend for white rice every other day for a house of 4 people?

I actually prefer brown or wild rice which are require longer cooking times
. Never felt need for a rice cooker at any price let alone one over $100. Really?
I wouldn't even buy one at any discounted price because anyone can cook perfect rice following the above instructions! Hope this advice helps.
For you, I'd recommend getting a 5-6 cup size cooker.
Here's some good ones:
- Zojirushi Micom [zojirushi.com]
- Another Zojirushi Micom [surlatable.com] one. This is made in China though, so the quality might not be excellent.
- Tiger [nordstromrack.com]; I think this one is great for just white rice. It's 10-cup capacity though.
- Another great price one for Tiger brand [amazon.com]
- Cuckoo Micom [costco.com] from Costco
I wouldn't really suggest Cuckoo as their rice cookers are made to do multi-purpose things and have more bells and whistles you'd ever need.
If you're looking for something cheaper, this one by Aroma [amazon.com] is actually pretty decent. Aroma
Must be a Chinese company.
