Get 30% back as a statement credit by using your enrolled American Express Card to make purchases online at taxact.com by 04/15/2021. Limit of $60 in total statement credits.

Don't forget to add offer to card in Amex Offers section.

Terms:
Enrollment limited. Must first add offer to Card and then use same Card to redeem. Only U.S.-issued American Express® Cards are eligible. Limit 1 enrolled Card per Card Member across all American Express offer channels. Your enrollment of an eligible American Express Card for this offer extends only to that Card. Offer valid online at taxact.com and through the merchant mobile app. Offer is non-transferable. Limit of $60 in total statement credits per Card Member. The enrolled Card account must not be cancelled or past due to receive statement credits. Any benefit earned from this offer is in addition to the rewards (i.e. Membership Rewards or cash back) earned as part of your existing Card benefits, but your ability to earn spend-based rewards for the purchase will be based on the amount after any statement credit or other discount is applied. Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 4/15/2021, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. Note that American Express may not receive information about your qualifying purchase from merchant until all items from your qualifying purchase have been provided/shipped by merchant. Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is returned/cancelled. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. In addition, in most cases, you may not receive the statement credit if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it. By adding an offer to a Card, you agree that American Express may send you communications about the offer.

If your AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) is less than 72k the IRS Free file program may work for you.

https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-f...s-for-free

Try Credit Karma Tax software as well. Its free and works well unless you need to file in multiple states.

https://www.creditkarma.com/tax

Credit Karma Tax—is it really free?
Yes! Credit Karma Tax is always 100% free. It's $0 to file both state and federal tax returns. Even if you're taking deductions or credits, it won't cost you a penny, ever
.

Free Tax USA is also another free federal tax software (+ $12.95 per state - use code FREETAXUSA10 for 10% off)

Was with them many years. I dumped them 2 years back when they stopped $12 federal + state
For those that use TurboTax, Chase Offers has 10% off if you use:
- Sapphire Reserve
- Freedom
- Freedom Unlimited

there may be others but I have the above and saw it there. Not as much as 30% for this deal but some are picky on their tax providers
I have been using them forever but they keep raising the price of the downloadable software that it might be time to move on. I really liked the ability to fill in fields direct on the forms vs having to do the Q&A for everything.

does anybody knows if Taxact support Charles schwab to load stock transaction data for calculation of capital gain. doing manually will take so much effort.
No, TaxAct only supports Fidelity, TD Ameritrade, Ameriprise, Betterment, UBS, Raymond James, Form8949 and GainsKeeper. However they do support capital gain excel/csv import; you do have to type them in an excel, save them as csv and import; its pretty simple if you can type them in an excel. From what I know, H&R Block and TurboTax has the most support for electronic import from the brokerages (or PDF form upload).

I need to file 2 states so the $45 Tax Act charges is a deal breaker for me even if Federal is free. Tax Act used to offer great deals like they did last year ($5 Federal and $5 for each state), but if they don't offer anything by mid March I'm going with freetaxusa. Their interface isn't the greatest but if you match the numbers with what you get in Tax Act or TurboTax it shouldn't be too hard. Federal is totally free + $12.95 per state. There is also a 10% coupon that you can easily find on Google, and 15% CB if you go through urlhasbeenblocked. (the wait to get your CB is usually months though). Ends up less than $20 in my case for Fed and 2 states.
Yeah, TaxAct pricing is ridiculous this year. Its expensive than H&R block even though they lack many of the functionalities of H&R Block.

Any deals on Taxact lately. Only reason I continue using it is all my info is there from the previous year.

Yes, the Taxact price is crazy high this year. I even have 30% off and it is still very high. I'd love to go ahead and file and get it done but I'm waiting on a deal. Last year I paid 10.00 total for State and Federal. This year it's locked in at about 150.00. I'm not paying that.

Have seen that option in the IRS website itself if I remember correctly.

I have been using TaxAct for many years but this year I switched to FreeTaxUSA due to TA's ridiculous pricing.

I "locked in" my $10 pricing last year, but it's not showing up. Their email support is basically non-existent and haven't responded (with an actual non-automated response) in like 2 months.

I have used Taxact for the past 8+ years. It is now the most expensive. Last year close to 4-15 they had a deal for 5.00 for each Fed and St.

Right now the lowest is about 60 for each. I'm waiting for another deal because all my info is with Taxact.

If I want to go elsewhere, how easy or hard or is it even possible to transfer all you past info to new software? Thanks.

Do not think there is a way to transfer or if any of the softwares allow a transfer. But the larger question is, I doubt you will need to transfer; most of the information is new info for the current year unless there are any carryover.

Call TaxAct customer service to get a lower rate. I was still locked in at a 30% off deal from October 2020 off their current price for Premier. Called them and the CS agent took another $25 off for me. With the extra $7 I'll get off for paying for it with my Chase Freedom card via their bonus cashback offer, I'll only be paying like $16 for Federal this year.
