Walmart has finally clearanced Octopath Traveler. It's showing up $10 for a lot of Walmarts (almost all around me were $10, one was $19 and one was still $50). Great deal if you can find it. They weren't on display on the main wall, they were all sideways on the lower shelving.
Brickseek claims there are 3-4 left at a store relatively near me, but I just went in-store and no Octopath Traveler was there, short of asking an employee to rifle through every game in the locked cabinet.
Thanks OP! I managed to get one. Was a bit harder than Xenoblade to find. I'm really looking forward to playing this game.
I hate scalpers with a passion-Deal with them constantly when it comes to Star Wars and Marvel action figures. They are f-ing parasites. When my kid was younger and figure hunting was more of a father/son activity, I would have to face his disappointment with not finding something because some loser had come by already and bought up all the good stuff just to make an already scarce item even scarcer, and sell online or at the local comic shop at a premium. And those are bought at MSRP.
I have a hacked switch on which Xenoblade and Octopath are installed for free (still haven't had time to play them), but at this price I had to get physical carts. Found Xenoblade, there were 7 left after I bought mine. Octopath I had to drive a little further to get, the first store I went to showed 2 but they had 0, so I was asking the Team Member to look at the sales data etc. When I asked him to scan the empty Xenoblade Chronicles peg just because, it showed x6 sold all in one go on 01/21. Never rule out the Walmart employees themselves are up to something I've learned btw. If it's setting one or two aside for themselves or a friend- No problem but...
Whoever is buying up all the Xenoblades thinking they will turn a profit is a joke. The game was only valuable when it came out on the Wii originally and was a Gamestop exclusive. Not many copies were made and then it went out of print pretty quick, increasing its value. The Wii U never released it even after the pent up demand (not even digitally I think.)
The fact that they are being cleared out for $10 and in stores that have 7-8 copies should tell you something. Maybe if buyers intend to sit on them for a couple of years? I don't know. Nintendo mainline titles tend to hold their value over time.
That being said, I am SUPER STOKED to finally play this game when I get some time. It's been on my list forever. I hope other people who want it get a shot at it because that's what it's about at the end of the day.

You're pirating games, and calling someone else a parasite?
I went to check my local walmart, sticker price list as 10 dollars but all out of stock at the store, anyone got an extra copy of Octopath Traveller or XenoBlade and willing to help me out for $15 shipped each, inbox me,greatly appreciated
No luck here, associate would not even budge to let me check the stack of games in the display. Just claiming it's all the same on the racks... so so annoying. As whateverest mentioned, if anyone has a spare that's willing to part, pls also pm me as well . Thanks all
So, I bought Octopath for $49 a day after this post was created in hopes of getting it priced matched at one of nearest out of town Walmart that had the clearance price listed. I checked a few days later to see that my local Walmart eventually dropped the price to $10. So, I ended up getting the price adjustment done there and was successful.
Now, Xenoblade isn't discounted yet at my local Walmart but got a copy anyway to secure one for myself in hopes of doing the same thing once they put this one on clearance.
I tried 2 different walmarts with no luck. One had limited stock and the other said it was in stock but no dice. Any chance someone out there got a second copy they are willing to sell?
I had two Wal-marts showing stock (out of like 15 in the greater Denver metro); one was at $10 but no copies to be found; and the other was the only store of the 15 that had full price still - all others had $10. They had two copies, so I bought one thinking it'll drop from $49 to $10 this week. If not, I'll try to return/buy again at a different store and worst case scenario just return it.
Funny how much time I spent hunting down two JRPGs that I'll probably never find time to play!
SoCal here, just gonna see if anyone is up for a trade. I got Xenoblade for $10, but really wanted Octopath. Anyone want to trade? Octopath was sold out everywhere around here, or at regular price.

Hey, might be worth checking out eBay. I saw some selling for around $32 for octopath. A friend of mine actually bought it at around that price and that's already a pretty good price. Good luck

Same thing here, inventory is very scarce.
