The 8 port TP-Link (TL-SG108) [amazon.com] is $17.99 at Amazon. I bought one a few weeks ago, installed it in place of a 5-port Netgear, and haven't thought about it since, which is exactly what you want from an unmanaged switch!

maybe just me but i have the worst luck with netgear switches. lost 2x gigabit 8 ports over the last 1.5 years and 1x 5 10/100 way back in the day. the frustrating part is most recently they don't just die either, they stay lit up and just start acting up and you pull your hair out trying to find out which device is the issue.

I had a similar issue with a prosafe 5 port gigabit switch that was in my livingroom. It kinda sorta sometimes worked, but was getting insane packet loss and buffering. No issues with the rest of them.

Plus, I have no idea why some waste of space thumbs downed your post regarding your past experiences. Sad, really.

Thanks, I just cancelled the netgear for this one. Much prefer the tp-link over the netgear.
