  • About this item:
    • This trash can operates with infrared motion sensor technology to allow you to simply wave your hand above the sensor at the front of the lid to open it automatically. The lid will remain open as long as there is an object in front of the sensor and close gently five seconds after the object is removed. If a hand or object breaks the infrared beam between the lid and the sensor while it's closing, re-triggering technology opens the lid again to prevent lid from closing on your hand.

These are garbage (pun intended). We're on our 2nd, thot the first was a dud. They just stop working, fresh batteries don't help. The motor is very weak. Going with a foot pedal to stop hearing my family grumbling.

Any suggestions for a filler to get the $0.02 for free shipping?
Add a pre-order Xbox or PS game, wait until your item ships, cancel the preorder. They will not charge you for a preorder until it ships but they will utilize it in free shipping.

I've been doing this for years and never had an issue.

Example Far Cry 6 (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Far-Cr.../443667597)

I actually like our automatic trash can so much we gave it a name: Bob.

The only downside to Bob is that he gets VERY hungry. These automatic cans (whether they use C or D batteries) go through batteries fairly quickly. When you see a deal on one of these like this for $35, you might consider doubling to tripling that cost of ownership over the life of the can, depending upon how often you use it and how much batteries last and cost.

I have a similar one and I just leave the lid open all the time pretty much they would be nicer if they could plug into an outlet

Yep, C and D battery operated items are a deal killer for me.

I modified mine to do this, just find the right voltage adapter, drill a little hole in the back side near the battery holder and solder the wires there instead.

To the one above me, I still have the sensor trash can I bought from 2015 and it's been 6 years and it's working fine. I replace battery every 6 months. It works so much better than a foot pedal and talking about people don't want to accept new things. Geez.
Mine opens halfway now instead of fully open. 😅

Pro tip. Buy rechargeable batteries. I bought some off Amazon and I got this trash can in October....I still have not charged the batteries.

It's headache free, whenever they do go out I'll just recharge them.
