I ordered my current computer from this company. Had to RMA it within the first month due to motherboard failure, but it works well enough now. Three points I'll note:

1. Horrible customer service. The owner, Ken, seems to just run everything himself. He is not cordial, or prompt in his responses (often had to email 2-3x before a response). He falsely advertised a fingerprint reader in my current laptop, and when I said it doesn't have one, his response was essentially, "oops, typo."

2. It took over a month to get my computer when there were not parts shortages. Expect to wait a while even once this computer becomes available.

3. I tried using the cash discount and paying by CC last time. The order went through, but Ken contacted me asking, "so you're going to send me a wire transfer or money order?" even though I had clearly already paid, and forced me to cancel my order and re-order.

Edit: This is all to say, while not the ABSOLUTE worst experience one could have, I'd be pretty hesitant to order from GenTech again.

You're going to leave your personal gaming laptop on 24/7? I would barely consider doing this with my 3080 desktop, and I have the coolest running card and case you can buy. You're going to shorten the lifespan of something, inevitably. For me, it would just be the gpu fan in all likelihood if the psu is operating at less than 50-60%. But still, barely worth it imo, even at these all time highs.

Pros don't do this on a small scale basis for a reason. They do it on rigs with multiple GPUs per motherboard. They just care about yields, not the longevity/condition of the parts. If you're going to be using this laptop for personal use + maybe even some business, mining on it for the entirety of the time it's not in use otherwise maybe isn't the best idea...

I wouldn't hold my breath with Adorama - had two 3080's on order with them which they canceled after 3-4 months of waiting. Halfway through waiting I was able to snag a 3090 off eBay for right around MSRP.

Considering their Help/FAQ page says that CCs won't be charged until 24 hours prior to shipping (Paypal is instant as mentioned by another?), I guess I'm in for the 3070. Should another offer come up prior to getting charged, I guess I could cancel. 5 weeks is plenty of time to evaluate this on whether I'll keep with the order.

Not according to a forumer who preordered this. He said his account was already marked as complete. though obviously it has not been shipped yet

Just throwing this out there as a PSA: 3060 gpus are going to get a driver update that kills hash rates.

If you're running a dual boot for a mining OS this may not matter (unless they push a vbios update, but there's been no indication of that yet)

That only applies to desktop GPUs, and is being done to drive miners to their "Cryptocurrency Mining Processor" cards and away from gaming-oriented GPUs so that PC builders can buy GPUs again.

Regardless, it's an awesome development.

Anyone that ordered this actually has received the laptop yet? Other than only one post that said the shipping time is now 5 weeks (?)

Which lead to the question if this is a reliable company? It is like their ABOUT US page contain no information at all. While they ask to pay with cash (for discount) which offer no protection. Not to mention non of the product page has in-stock/pre-order/etc status and checkout page don't indicate the estimate ship date, etc.

Just a friendly note, Adorama will not take your money from your account, until the item actually ships to you. Best Buy will take your money immediately, but supposedly is more reputable since they are a more well known and larger company.
