I have 805 fico and they decline my Application for Venture credit card and wasted 1 credit check. I won't be applying any Capital one credit card anytime soon.
Call the reconsideration line, could be an error on the app or a typo. Happened to me before
Keep in mind that you'll also get a hard pull from all 3 bureaus anytime you apply for a Capital One credit card.

I dunno exactly when it showed but it shows in ur rewards section after u pass 500$. Id say it took like 2 days or so. Maybe even less.

Can the $200 reward be used towards paying off the $500 that you spent to get it?

Some credit cards target people with lower credit scores to ensure they put people into debt more and then profit more off interest.

Why would anyone use a 2% card when the Amex Cash Preferred card gives you back 1% on all purchases, 3% on gas/transit services, and 6% back on groceries and streaming services? Sure it has a $95 yearly fee, but that's offset VERY quickly with the 6% grocery rewards. I've already earned $320 in rewards year to date.

In 2021, I earned $621.33 in rewards, minus the $95 yearly fee for a net gain of $526.33 in rewards. I get most of mine from grocery transactions, but it's well worth it Applause

------------

Regarding this card specifically, though, I also got it for the $200 reward last year. I use this card's virtual card number feature for shopping at online stores that I feel are "sketchy". Stores where I want to make my purchase and then lock the card so it can't be used when it's ultimately stolen. It's a particularly bad problem with smaller gunshops that have an online presence. That said, the Citi DoubleCash card for 2% also has virtual card numbers that function similarly. I'm just boycotting citi because they screwed me over.

None of the places around where I live even *accept* Amex.

Capital One crap anyways. I've had their QS card for many years and been paying their $40 annual fee. I've tried over the years to get them to remove it or move me over to a zero annual fee card with zero luck. They truly dont give 2 chits about their customers.

There's no fee for the QuikSilver card!

Has it occurred to you that not everyone spends the same amount on groceries as you? Or gas for that matter? Add to that you're $95 in the red right out of the gate.
That's "why".

The first year is free, so you're not $95 out. You do you boo while I reap my rewards.

It doesn't now simply because too many cards dont have one. When I signed up for it what seems like 10+ years ago there was a $40 annual fee. It was my first ever CC that I got and also the only reason I haven't cancelled it.

They recently sent me an email offering to close my account and refund the $40 annual fee I paid last year. The most backwards ass crap I've ever seen. But they will not remove the fee
now as I explained.

Capital One has a branding problem. The Quicksilver card has many variants. The $40 annual fee card is a secured credit card. It looks like they no longer charge an annual fee but you have to continually deposit an amount equal to your credit limit. Those are the types of cards for people with no credit or bad credit. You do not want to keep secured credit cards for any period longer than needed. Once you have an unsecured credit, you should have cancelled the secured credit card long ago.

They've also switched from Visa to Mastercard for the Quicksilver card. All the Visa accounts are grandfathered in which means they continue to be Quicksilver Visa cards. Then there is the VISA Signature which is for credit lines above 5K.
