This perplexes me. If using corded tools, You can get the Bosch or Makita router, at retail price, for $99, and buy the HF version of this sander (Bauer) for $25 right now.

I mean, Ridgid isn't exactly the best on terms of routers and sanders , but a good warranty goes a long way.

However, in corded palm/laminate routers, the Bosch is great, and Makita is pretty good as well (I prefer the Bosch of the two brands).

In sanders, if you like corded, then look into going pnuematic (ohhh air sanders are great... even cheap ones.) But if you arent there yet, or never want to be, then remember that sanders are fickle creatures.... Creatures that want to maliciously harm you!!!

I mean, sure, they seem harmless compared to other tools, but that's how they get ya. They attack your mind, your arms, and your bank account. You tell yourself, "I dont like this sander, but then again, it'sa $20 sander. I bet if I bought a $50 one, it would WAYY better!".

And by then... it's already too late.

From there, you realize the $50 one isn't much different. On top of that, your arms were numb from using it, and you dropped it, breaking the "dust collection" box from the back of it. So you think, "Well screw it, I'm buying one for $150!!!"

The cycle continues.

So just buy a Bauer. They're effective, and you wont get a better corded sander until you start getting to $200.

Or a$30 pnuematic will last forever, and your hands wont go numb do easily. Plus they are sanding beasts. So go big, or go air for sanders. Plus an sir compressor is great for a ton of reasons. And you might already have one.

But...

They dont have a "lifetime" warranty.

But a lifetime is meaningless when your soul has been eaten by the SanderMan!

I will pray for your soul...

Not a bad deal. Direct tools has the sheet sander at 30$ and the router at 99$, factory blemished for both. So this deal beats direct tools.

I think it's been out of stock for a while. I've been checking back and ordered a few days ago. Took delivery yesterday so my experience is limited. But so far lovely combo. Router has plenty of power for me as a piddler. It's great to have two sanders now for different grits. The world is a better place now.

One thing, If you're super anal retentive, you might not like the switch on the router. It's a pull/push type instead of the rocker style. I'm already over it, though.

Same. Haven't used the sander, but the router has performed very well.

This pair is regularly available at this price.

Go ROS instead of 1/4 sheet, and do spend the $50-$70 range if you will use the sander for more than 30-60s at a time. The vibration control/dampening on a better unit is where the difference in cost is felt. Take a look at what a replacement pad (part that the sandpaper sticks to) costs for the brand you end up picking.
