I own both also and the reason you got so many thumbs down is because you're forgetting about what makes this Samsung so great.

120hz OLED screen with inky blacks.

It destroys the new iPad Air 2020 model screen. 60hz and annoying gray backlight bleed.

You have to go all the way up to an iPad pro to get a comparable screen.

Screens are important since you're staring at that thing 100% of the time.

Price goes back up to $879.99 at checkout. Not sure why that is, but their site has been a hit or miss on these disconuts for me lately. I've tried clearing cache on chrome, but it wouldn't work, and all of a sudden the discounts would apply on mobile chrome.

That's odd, are you sure you are logged in and have the banner at the top of the screen saying "Welcome to the Samsung Education Discount Program Store. Please enjoy our special offers for you"? I convinced my roommate to pick one up for school and he was able to checkout and complete the transaction a few minutes ago. I personally got all the way up to the PayPal page and I can see the $618 pricing.

Samsung's site is incredibly finnicky lately though, its been throwing errors left and right for me, especially when following through the referral links on here.

I have been having troubles with consistency of order pricing on the Samsung site as well. I used Chrome incognito mode and was able to complete the order with the discounted price.
