I am so grateful these games managed to be sold at such a miniscule amount. Probably never would've picked up og Doom otherwise, thinking it would be too archaic for me to enjoy.
Boy, was I wrong.
I purchased the game on a whim: mostly for educational purposes (like watching an old black and white movie that was notorious for "pushing the boundaries"), but partially hoping, wishing to derive some level of ironic enjoyment from playing an antiquated shooter from the 90s... I got a lot more than I bargained for.
Blazed through most of the game in a single sitting, and finished it early the following morning. DOOM made me confront my ignorance, completely transforming my expectations of the game being some quaint artifact into the enlightened truth that it is a
quintessential pillar of its genre.
For me, Doom 64. Played the originals in the 90s and had even more fun playing 64 on my computer last month. Missed it when it came to the Nintendo 64 for whatever reason. Too busy playing Goldeneye, maybe.
I'd have to hand it to the original DOOM

Doom 2, has the super shotgun and more enemies. Doom 64 is flawed because for whatever reason they decided to make the game really dark ruining it for me.

You certainly nailed why we all missed it in the 90s - Goldeneye. Even with a four month head start on Goldeneye, Doom 64's lack of multi-player doomed it.

This is a remaster of DOOM 64 and I think they actually made the game a lot lighter and easier to see
if you're like me, a classic DOOM fan who thought they've played it all, i highly recommend trying DOOM 64. never played it before and it's a really creative re-imagining of the franchise.
the game is as if somebody called Midway and described DOOM to them over the phone without them ever playing it before, and i mean that in a good way. all the quality-of-life features are in this port, like quick save and even motion tilt aiming for when you're trying to carefully line up a shot. buy this!
