there are just ok, 6 out of 10 on the flavor scale, and not the best idea to buy food from amazon; costco much more consistent on freshness

We buy them at Costco all the time. Add ground beef you have chili. Add some hot sauce and you have a good dip.

With all InstantPot FP deals and a little Patak sauce I'd have thought it wouldn't be hard to cook "daal" much cheaper at home.
