Can you clear something up for me? I haven't been paying attention to the gaming market for a while now. If I don't own an xbox, can I still play these Windows 10 versions? I've read some conflicting info about Microsoft requiring you to pay for a subscription or something. Can these games be played, standalone, without any strings or additional expenses?
Not sure if you're confusing this download with one of their subscriptions. You'll obviously need a connection to download the game and play the multi-player scenarios.

I just purchased the Halo bundle- the key's redeemable through the Microsoft store. No mention of Steam.
I'm assuming you are talking multiplayer and yes you can but the game is kind of dead for pvp. I wouldn't recommend unless you intend to play pve.
