Thanks! Another noob question:

Also, is $70 good deal to get Windows 10 Pro instead? Any reliable way to get upgrade for cheaper?
Why do you need pro? If you cannot answer that, then it is probably a waste. You can always get a 10pro key for about $10 down the road.

Gosh I'm just stuck on 1080p vs 1440p

$1275 versus like $1450

I still think 1080p is optimal on a 15.6" screen. I also prefer higher refresh rates for gaming.

Is the processor in this better than all the 4000 series AMD processors?

Anyone have a link to a benchmark for it? Does it benchmark around 20000?

I had a poor experience before as well. Reading yours is tells me nothing has changed and I don't want to risk it.

And it's directly from China. No thanks. I'm trying to be a little more careful to keep our money in America.

nothing is made in america anymore.

if you wanted a made in USA laptop, it would cost $5000 for this exact build

don't feed the trolls. Pretty sure more than 90% of their household items are made in china.

An anecdote for those interested:
Before xmas, my brother asked me to find him a cheap, new laptop for his girlfriend.
I checked SD and found one being offered on HP.com, so I ordered it.
I mistakenly put my brother's old/previous shipping address in North Carolina.
My brother notified me of this a few hours after the order was placed.
I didn't think anything of it and reached out to HP... well, I tried to reach out to HP. Getting someone on the other end of the phone proved to be quite a challenge.
When I finally did get ahold of someone, I was told that I was unable to change the shipping address, I was unable to cancel the order, and I was unable to have the laptop held at a FedEx location.

I was a bit taken back. Surely they would make an exception for me... right? I mean, it's being shipped to incorrect address. What did they actually expect me to do?
Well, around and around we went, spending what equated to hours on their chat system, as well as on the phone over what probably spanned about 3 MONTHS.
The laptop took months to ship and came DIRECTLY from China Maybe this explains why I was unable to have the laptop re-routed to a FedEx location? But I don't know, even a package coming in from China should have been able to be held at a FedEx location ...right?.

I was finally able to get a refund, but the amount of stress has turned me off to HP.com for the rest of my days. I don't care how good the deal is. The fact that they have insane policies such as being unable to have a package rerouted to an actual FedEx location just doesn't make any sense.

And while I realize that this whole thing could have been avoided if I simply double-checked my brother's address before ordering the laptop, HP gave zero f**ks.

The package was unable to be delivered (due to no one living at his previous address) and was EVENTUALLY (after about 5 delivery attempts) sent to an HP warehouse in Texas.

I had to file a claim with my bank in order to make anything happen. Even after the package was in their Texas warehouse, they still refused to update me and let me know what would happen from there. This might be the #1 crappiest experience I've ever had with a big company like this.
Needless to say, when I finally got the refund, I sent my brother a link to a laptop for sale at the BestBuy near him and told him to go pick it up lol. That process took a few hours and that was that. So much wasted time.

MORAL OF THE STORY - Pray you don't have to make any changes to your order!! Don't make the same mistake I did.

Oh and they took my review down as well lol

That's so weird. I ordered a laptop from them, then a month later I changed my mind and they refunded me without a restocking fee. (Because it was taking so long for them to ship the order.) The chat person did say "are you sure you really want to cancel? Are you sure you don't just want to wait?" But that was it.

Based on the input from others on this forum, it sounds like your outcome was the exception; not the rule.
Consider yourself lucky.
The ONLY shining light in my situation was that at one point at the tail end of this ordeal, the female HP customer service rep I was on the phone with started singing to the song that was playing in the background (as if she thought I was on hold or something).
I eventually cut her off and asked her if she knew that I could hear her.
There was a good 2-3 seconds of silence before she replied with "yes", and then went on to issue me the refund lol

Is that because it uses a wireless laser projection bluetooth virtual numaric pad?

I hate looking for new tech, because there's typically something better around the corner, and much of the time, I end up getting something that has too many frills that go unused. I'm currently running a Dell 7577 (i5 w/ 1060MQ), and I've never used its Thunderbolt support. I was initially going to do the pre-order on that Gigabyte A5 X1 laptop w/ 3070MP that was listed here on SD, but I'm hesitant because the seller seems so unfamiliar and wording on the website leaves little to be desired imo, not to mention that I'd get charged immediately with no easy way to cancel if at all. So I went to pass on that and was going to wait on the Lenovo Legion Pro, but then this OMEN deal pops up.

Probably the main thing holding me back is the 3070MQ, as I was set on getting a laptop with a 3070MP (like the only I mentioned earlier), but do I really need the MaxP? This laptop or the Legion is going to be a pretty big upgrade for me regardless. As it is, I have my laptop connected to my 4K TV and play on the couch with a tray and separate keyboard/mouse as I don't have the room in my small apartment to set up a dedicated computer area, plus having a laptop means I can take it with me on trips. The other thing is what many people here talked about, and that's with regards to cancellation.

A few questions though. Does this only have 2 NVMe slots, or does it also have a slot for a 2.5" drive? Would be nice if it did because then I can move my SATA SSD from my current laptop to this one. If I were to go with 16GB, I could just configure the build before purchase, but if I wanted to go 32GB, would it be best to just stick with the 8GB configuration, and purchase 32GB elsewhere?
