Starting 3/10/21 to 4/4/21 the Klipsch R-12SW will be back on sale. I thought to share as folks may want to know to wait for this sale to start before purchasing a bughet sub. I bought this as a partner for my klipsch reference thearter pack and have been loving it so far. For the price you pay, its the best bang gor the buck. The link for costco is below and also the past frontpage link as well.

No, last time it was $169 it was the same price in store as well. My local Costco had dozens of them, a couple pallets of them at least. You won't have trouble getting one if that's what you're worried about.

Alternatives to this is are the $150 Dayton Sub-1200 and the $99 Monoprice 9723 subwoofer, both of which were picks for "best budget sub" by thewirecutter.

In the store I saw none set up for display. They were only on pallets up pretty high in the racks. I don't even think I saw a price listed.

I'm definitely picking this up to replace my Polk which has a super loud humming to it.

How does this compare to the Infinity R12 (currently also on sale for $169, discussion here: https://slickdeals.net/f/14852365-infinity-reference-speakers-sale-is-back-up-rc252-center-100-more )

And is there much benefit to matching brand/product line between speakers and the sub (i.e. stick with a Klipsch sub if you've got Klipsch speakers)? Or is that mainly limited to the speaker sets themselves? I was thinking about picking up the Infinity sub to match my Infinity front and center speakers, but if the Klipsch is significantly better I'd consider it instead.

They're in the same ballpark spec and performance-wise. Some folks say the Klipsch is less defined, and there's been reports of amp failures, so maybe that tips it to the Infinity. I have the wireless version of the Klipsch and for what I paid ($229) I'm very happy.

There's no benefit in matching subs to the rest of your speakers other than aesthetics. Match your LCR, match your surrounds/overheads, and you should be good to go. Room correction will go a long way to get you where you need to be, and adjust to taste from there.

Cool. I haven't compared them head to head in the same setup like you have. Please tell us about your experience with them.

Watch this Audioholics video .. https://youtu.be/NEJhyOeRHwE... at the 12:05 mark. I don't always agree with Gene, but he hit the nail on the head. Subwoofer plate amp failures are way too common for all brands. SVS, Klipsch, ... you name it. They all have premature failures. It's how the company deals with it that's important.
