Even a 100 or 106 in projector is significantly larger than the behemoth TV here. If you have light control, projector is the way to go.

I've owned projectors since 2003, they have their place.... Nothing like watching tv or playing games on a 120" screen, but I feel like their tech is lagging severely right now and likely will never catch up. $2k for an 86" screen is mighty tempting.
Only problems I have is they don't do HDR well and won't do Dolby vision, and input lag is high with 4k games.
I find TVs need light controlled rooms too, especially OLED, obviously not as crucial as it is for projectors but still very important for the best pq possible
Not trying to thread jack but I was considering this Samsung and this LG UN8570 (especially with an extended warranty and Costco's great return policy) sounds very intriguing. Is this a sure thing for next week? And what is everyone's thoughts on picture quality of this Samsung vs LG (considering that LG may be 400$ cheaper)? Thank you much! Love this community

Yes this is confirmed to be on sale for $1650 starting 3/10 at Costco per their sales flyer. But the ad doesn't mention anything about the extended warranty or the Hulu gift card this TV has included in the past. But the great return policy is a given

With no professional reviews around for the Samsung, the following is the only comparison I could find. Strange that they rate the Samsung 7.0 and the LG 6.8 when the only category that the Samsung rates better is design.

I just got my 8570 82" from Costco. The 82" is a VA panel, not IPS. It's low key a super slept on TV. 2.1 HDMI, 120 hz native, 4k, low latency for gaming, etc etc. All the things you want basically and much better brightness than it's IPS counterparts. Does need to be tuned in color wise pretty heavily from factory settings, but looks beautiful once setup right.
I hate soap opera and I don't see any. Although I'm still not even through all the settings.
