Good deal. Newegg would go out of their way and charge $10 for shipping even though everyone knows it doesn't cost them that much.

just riskier, though.

I think selling on eBay is riskier.

maybe scam-wise, but on there people don't get shot etc... But I feel like meeting at a police station would solve that because even if the moron waited until after leaving to do something, surely te police would look at surveillance video.

I've sure been able to get a ton of tough to find items so far... 5900x, 5950x, many ps5s, xbx, a 3060 ti, 3 sf750 psus, and 3 3070s. Most of them I get thinking of keeping, but then end up changing my mind.

Interesting... so you are paying "scalper" prices to get those things and you're on slickdeals?

Not really SLICK more about being in stock and available. I was fortunate enough to score at launch for this price. Loser retailers like New Egg have been marking these up to $400 because demand. I hate New Egg.

Great processor, unreal single core speeds, and price performance this set up is great
They are not the only ones everyone has, but I have not seen newegg do it personally just their third party seller links. The demand on the CPU's is nothing compared to GFX cards so it didnt hold long if they did.

I like newegg been using them for years and they only gave me an issue once, which I quickly took up with customer service and they fixed it and even gave me a gift card. Outside of that be a responsible buyer and dont think you can test drive things without penalties which is the biggest beef I see people have with newegg. They were also one of the first to impose a lottery system so scalpers could not get all the stock. When buying computer parts its a split between Amazon and Newegg currently for me.

I already have a 5900x and dumbly bought a 5950x and may have to just return it because I decided it's too expensive to be worth keeping and on ebay after fees you basically break even, so why risk ebay buyers just to break even?
Lol I also could not justify the 5950x instead of the 5900 just wasn't worth the mark up since all I wanted is the additional cores.

I got some GPU's that I got buyers remorse from, thought I could sell them online and make $50-100, in the end honestly just was not worth my hassle or time so I returned them to the retailer.

Not if you do it in a public area, noone is going to shoot you or rip you off with other people around. Just be smart about it, I have done quite a few local sales and had no issues, people doing it at police stations is like the ultimate safety blanket, I have not gone that far but it works.

Finally. A "deal" at SD that is not 5800x since the release. Hopefully we'll see 5900x soon too.
My backorder for a 5900x which was a preorder got filled over a month ago, directly on AMD website I have seen 5900x pop up a few times. Stock should definitely not be an issue.

Also the 5800X runs the hottest when compared to the other Zen 3 CPUs
I own the 5800X (105W TDP), and I use a BeQuiet Dark Rock 4 (can handle up to 200W TDP, iirc). It has the same exact TDP as the 5900X and 5950X, and hell even last year's 3900X.

I use my PC for productivity (office work), gaming (AAA titles - 1440p/144 Hz), and content creation (Photoshop/Adobe Premiere). Basically, everything, but built around gaming (since a good gaming PC can handle all of those other things anyway).

The reason it's considered a "poorer" value than the rest of the lineup is because, if you're strictly gaming the 5600X is probably a better value. If you're more on the content-creation side, you'd probably want a 5900X (more cores). The 5800X falls in the middle, and feels like a poor value to some people. Think of it as a replacement to the 3700X.

The 5800X is expensive to produce because it is an 8-core, 16-thread CPU on a single CCD/CCX. In comparison, the 5900X/5950X are essentially two CPUs glued together; the 5900X is 6+6 cores. The 5950X is 8+8 cores. The 5800X is 8 cores, altogether on one chip. That makes it more expensive to produce, because the yield is lower.

The 5600X, for example, is essentially a lower-binned 5800X with failed cores disabled. 6 Cores/12 Threads is enough for games, as that is essentially treated as 12 physical cores. A 5900X is just a 5950X with failed cores disabled too. That's why they perform exactly the same, except for in tasks that perform better with more cores.

I came from a 3900X/RTX 3080 to a 5800X/RTX 3080, and I dramatically gained frames in many games with no other hardware or software changes. This is because IPC (single-core/per-core) performance increased ~20% between 3000 series and 5000 series Ryzen chips. In my case, I didn't need 12 cores/24 threads. What I needed was fewer cores that were more powerful each. That's what most games favor.

But again, it depends on your use case:

In my personal opinion (subjective):

Recommendation by Primary Use Case:
  • Strictly Gaming: 5600X
  • Gaming/some Content Creation: 5800X
  • Gaming/Content Creation/Core-Intensive Workloads: 5900X
  • MOAR CORES: 5950X (point of diminishing returns over the 5900X for most people)

Oh, and in general -- Buy an appropriate cooler for your use case. I know it sounds obvious, but the 5800X, 5900X, and 5950X don't come with one in the box. If you use a dinky cooler, you will get poor thermals. But at the same time, you don't have to look too deep/far to find a good cooler for them.

I can confirm this as an owner of a 5800x. However, i was able to easily undervolt to 1.2 and set an all core clock at 4.6GHz no problem. it has been stable and now with real world use my max temp is around 60-65c with 240mm AIO front mounted push-pull setup.
Can you please guide me with the settings you are using it to achieve that voltage, temp and frequency?

Looked through slickdeals at the right time. Purchased this. Will be coming from an FX-6300 to this. Now I need to decide on motherboard and ram.

https://www.anandtech.com/show/16...ocket-lake

TLDR; 11700K ~ 10700K in gaming

Edit: Intel fanboys already down thumbing this post because they can't handle that AMD finally destroyed Intel and Intel's 11th gen is still behind Zen 3 LMAO
