If you don't care about live as much then you can pay for 1 promotion, and then quit and move to the next service and quit and so on.
They don't come out with new shows fast enough, anymore, so you can pretty much watch everything in a couple of months on CBS, then watch everything for a couple months on NBC and then maybe Disney+ and so on. Then you are only paying $10 per month and actually watching what you pay for.
Worst is if you are paying all these services while waiting for them to release something new. Just pay for them when you need them
P.S. There aren't many shows like Game of Thrones or The Mandalorian on right now so you don't have to worry about spoilers. If there is a show that you don't want spoiled, then subscribe to that service near the end of that show's run.
I just ordered the free Flex from https://www.xfinity.com/learn/flex maybe a few months back.
Not really related, I returned the Flex because I couldn't upgrade to unlimited data plan when it was in my possession.
Hulu should adopt this model imho
If I sign in, I get re-directed to the normal service. Otherwise it makes me sign up with an entirely new account.

The ads are a mild annoyance. Typically :30-:45 seconds (at least on the shows I've watched in the past). Nothing like Hulu's 1-5 minutes nonsense.
