If you check the listing photos you will see that they show MIFI "chip" inside and label it as MiF chip with text next to it (I know for some it could be confusing since neither corresponds to correct MFi words), it's basically game play of words to make it "real" nothing more.
Another sign of fake is picture showing supported "power delivery" showing USB-C charger but by some magic this USB-A is plugged into it, and there's no power delivery supported over USB-A for iphone so that "quick charge" is BS.
They also are trying to down vote someone who posted a link to verify this, I tried by manufacturer, name and UPC (708214381914) according to CCC and it couldn't find nothing which after I checked the pictures was clear why (MIFI chip with MiF label? lol might as well add L somewhere there).
By some honest reviews you can see that these are junk and I ordered similar ones that would stop working after few uses,or stopped working with newer devices it's cheap but you get what you pay in this case (USB2.0 data speeds is another give away that these are probably made with thin wires that can't handle high data rates).
Last but not least thing, the other colors have barely over 30 reviews each BUT gold one has OVER 9,200, yeah it's not suspicious in the least.

Ther are not 9K reviews, there are 9K ratings.
There are only 3637 reviews.
Of those, 30% of the reviewers have had at least one past review for a different product deleted, although the meta data is close to margin of chance per Review Meta website.
Personally I switched to USB-C ones since for iPhone 8 and newer it charges faster and few times that I needed longer than 6 feet cable I used my laptops USB-C one with adapter to lighting connector.
Generally I stick to better QC brands like Belkin and Anker but you can get bad cable from any manufacturer so if you have a brand that you have good experience with then stick to it.
My "beef" with this post wasn't the price obviously but how they falsely claim it to be certified by Apple where it's not and it's very possible you get decent cable from this bunch but usually quality control on these is non existent so you can get one that works good but others might not work out of the box or don't work properly so test ALL of them right away.
For this price one might want to take a chance but the fact it's been pushed so hard and has all these new posters "backing up" the quality on these is kind of annoying though.
i can't comment on the spammy 9200 reviews and I would definitely be weary just looking at the item. It definitely looks like a cheap cable that would burn your house down by looking at the amazon page. a However, all that aside, I have had a good experience.
No fraying, no damage to the cable, no kinking , and no broken connector.
I also like the rubbery feel of the cable vs the braided ones.
I would recommend.
Monoprice has contacted me and said they will send replacement cables even though they currently don't carry the originals ones I had.

Why do I need so many?
Wife yanks them out by the cord, not the heads. -_- fml
Don't care if it is shill at this point.
Why put a dime store charger in your potentially thousand dollar phone?
Lately if I posted my real unsatisfactory review I would get contacted by seller to change it for either money incentive (which I think is real BS) or some story that they changed the product/quality control and now it's all better.
For me personally I use Qi wireless phone holder in the car and quick charge Samsung one by night stand for overnight charging, the only time I reach out for cable is when I need a quick charge during heavy use days (cable is also USB-C one so it takes advantage of PD and 20W charging for my 12 mini). Some say Qi charging is bad as well but so far over the years I used iphone 8, X, Xs and 11 I didn't notice any major battery degradation besides regular wear but I also try to keep devices from extreme heat/cold as well which I think does more damage than Qi coil charge.
That's horrible... you should just get the Amazon brand lifetime guarantee ones. Super heavy duty, and they'll replace if needed.
Thank you so very much for taking your time to reply, it's very much appreciated 👍

Been there done that. They decided give me a refund instead because the cable was no longe made.
