This is exactly why I tool a donor 887 and dropped a 3/8" anvil in it (Dewalt Part Number 608116-00SV). Has tons of torque - enough to remove lugs - and has the speed settings. Probably one of my favorite tools now.
Yeah that's a great idea. I have the 890, and the 887. And whole I didnt modify them, I did buy every freaking adapter I could find for them lol.

My only issue though is when using wobble sockets in the 887 it can get away from me if I'm not fully paying attention. And the quick change chuck tends to always have some play to it.

I'm a woodworker, so the 887 is vital... the 890, I'd be willing to Frankenstein that thing to Hades and back. I use it more as a slow speed grinding/deburring tool than anything else it seems.

June, of 2023, Dewalt will be giving you the Atomic Oscillating tool for free, and $20 cash if you just take it. Lol. Word spread really quickly about how junky that thing is.

The XR is awesome... but that atomic... oof!
Where is any info on this to get ready?

but wouldn't they just say you can't return a free item unless you return all the bundle items for a full refund. that's what they should do so that you would have to get a store credit without a receipt.
The point is it's not listed as a free item on your receipt. It's a separate line item with its own (pro-rated) sale price.

That would be great. What you think of impact wrench (for working on car) and router?
Want to do some interesting body work with that router?

I seen it in a magazine... Sarcastic Humor Annual Tool Edition. (Or just get the Misumi catalog, and sift through it page by page until you find it. Lol)

I'm curious because I was interested in it -- what's so bad about the atomic one?

If you're referring to the battery hack, it works as long as the battery isn't a part of a kit, i.e. the battery doesn't come packaged inside of the box with the tool itself.

As long as it comes separately, in it's own packaging, it should show up on your receipt as a separate line item with a return value.

Well, the atomic and XR are virtually identical. Same size, weight, etc. However, the motor in the atomic seems to be made from old cereal boxes lol. It burns out FAST!!!

Also, if patient, and diligent, its not uncommon to find the XR on sale <$100. And the XR is exceptional for the value.

All the atomics are a gimmick. No one understands why they exist other than to fool people.

Do some research on the XR vs atomic, and look into the atomics in general. The 12v Dewalts are MUCH better than their 20v atomic. I'm amazed they haven't been yanked off the shelves tbh.

Sadly, as a dewalt fan, they have made realllly bad choices the past few years. Their steps to evolve, in order to compete, have been (mostly) miserable failures. The only good things they did with their tools has been the 60v advantage lineup. The Atomic, and Bluetooth aspects, were just plain silly. And they reallllly pushed those way too hard.

Personally, I feel the Atomic tools would not exist if the Covid lockdowns were never a thing. Many people took to doing repairs around their home, and ended up buying into the Atomic series based on name alone.

So I highly recommend the XR oscillating tool. I'd rather use a Harbor freight oscillating tool over the Atomic line.

Head over to YouTube and search "dewalt atomic vs XR oscillating". But beware... if you watch any of the VCG videos, skip the first 90% of the video as it will just be repetitive babbling lol.

Anyone able to confirm if this works with the Pole Saw? Really don't need the battery but if I can get the saw cheaper, I'm in. Sell the battery online

Gotcha, that's really helpful, you saved me from making the wrong choice here. Thanks!
