If you need one of the other tools on this list, it will be worth it if you are in need of it and a battery. IMO the 5ah are Dewalt's best 20v overall.
Good luck on your endeavors
Also, if patient, and diligent, its not uncommon to find the XR on sale <$100. And the XR is exceptional for the value.
All the atomics are a gimmick. No one understands why they exist other than to fool people.
Do some research on the XR vs atomic, and look into the atomics in general. The 12v Dewalts are MUCH better than their 20v atomic. I'm amazed they haven't been yanked off the shelves tbh.
Sadly, as a dewalt fan, they have made realllly bad choices the past few years. Their steps to evolve, in order to compete, have been (mostly) miserable failures. The only good things they did with their tools has been the 60v advantage lineup. The Atomic, and Bluetooth aspects, were just plain silly. And they reallllly pushed those way too hard.
Personally, I feel the Atomic tools would not exist if the Covid lockdowns were never a thing. Many people took to doing repairs around their home, and ended up buying into the Atomic series based on name alone.
So I highly recommend the XR oscillating tool. I'd rather use a Harbor freight oscillating tool over the Atomic line.
Head over to YouTube and search "dewalt atomic vs XR oscillating". But beware... if you watch any of the VCG videos, skip the first 90% of the video as it will just be repetitive babbling lol.

This will go nicely with the DCF894B and DCF899B I got for $59 and $97 respectively after selling the batteries, chargers and bags in the kits. The 899 was in-store purchase with 11% off.
The 3/8" impact wrench sounds good, but I figure I'd go one more step up in power without going crazy with the 899.
because it bothers people that someone would rather not spend $100 for a product they don't need?
The best option would be to offer a gift card or you know instant discount instead of the battery but that's too easy for corporate isn't it? Simping for corporate home depot, that's a new one.
read the t&c and find out if that's what they did, companies are aware this is done and if they don't write it in that's their choice. Like HD.
ie, $300 + free means tax/revenue on $300 + estimated cost of battery, let's say $100? = $400.
If break down by line item then it's $200 + $100 so = $300.
I could be wrong on that but I remember seeing something along those lines when researching a related tax question.
It's also more complicated to handle if you make it that bundle must be returned together as then they need to design a whole arbitrary bundling system that will end up creating a whole other set of issues to handle. Doing it with discounts is much simpler since you just need to have simple rules, if skuA and skuB then apply discount and you're done. Of course if enough people use the return loophole with that then it will be worth implementing a fix for it, for now it seems like they don't have enough abusers to fix it. Although they have cracked down on no-receipt returns so that is the first step to controlling the return loophole.
