I cant recommend these Brother Laser Printers enough! I have had mine (HL-2280DW) for eight years now and it still runs like a champ.

3rd party toner costs next to nothing and have never had a single issue with it. I swear it is going to outlive me at this rate.

Yeah this is only wired. It's the DW that's WiFi.

I got a couple of these new for $50 or $60 at Best Buy back in summer 2017. They work like champs & still going strong with no issues whatsoever.

From everything I can find, this model appears to be wired only. Are you sure that this works with 2.4 GHz?

I stay away from refurb printers except those having new cartridges or information on how much left.

This isn't really a deal unless printers have gone up in price recently or something. This same model has been $50 new plenty of times
All printers have been very expensive due to work from home

Hahah, I was thinking the exact same thing. Yeah, I got mine from a SD post about 8 or so years ago. I think it was like $50 if I had to wager a guess. And while I don't print often (only on my second toner cart), it's been the best printer I've ever owned.
I just did a quick search in my gmail. 79.99 back in 2013 was mine. I do recall it was on SD a few times for little less, but nevertheless its the best $80 I ever spent.Smilie

Does this come with ink?
It comes with a starter toner cartridge good for about 700 pages.

Love my mfc-2700dw series ... Only thing that bothers me with is when in sleep mode, sometimes it doesn't want to wake up and need to be restarted.
Some of the connection problems can be solved by setting the IPv6 switch.

Printer: Brother MFC-L2700DW

(1) On printer, select the following options:

Menu

Option #6 Network

Option #2 WLAN

Option #3 Set Up Wizard

(You will see the name of a WiFi- select the one that you are using with your computer or tablet.

(2) On printer, select the following options:

Menu

Option #6 Network

Option #2 WLAN

Option #1 TCP/IP

Option #0 IPv6

Then select Yes or Enable (for the IPv6)

Last Step:

Unplug printer, then turn it back on and it will now sync to your electronic device. I actually did this process yesterday, but I wanted to wait over night to see if the steps actually stuck. Previously, I would have to unplug my printer and try and catch a brief connection on it just to print a page, and other times no matter what I did I could neither print nor scan.

this is ridiculous... i would wait for a while if you don't need one ASAP. this will just be a temporary setback, just like some other goods we have been experiencing with.

If your printer is still working and you would like a small project you can setup a print server using a Raspberry Pi zero ($5-10 in costs plus your time). I have a 2140 and did this and you can print from chromebooks.
Did you get raspberry pi zero or zero w? Thanks.

I used the W so it's wireless built-in.

Any pi should be powerful enough, but built in wireless is easiest and most convenient.

Thanks for the link. My HL-2140 only has a USB port, so I am hoping I can set up the raspberry pi server via USB port.
Yes, you can...

OT, just recently my Brother HL-2280DW lags when I want to print. It will just automically start printing hours later. Any suggestions? TIA

So much praise for generic ink on this thread, yet, no one has actually linked to one they used! Would love a recommendation. Thanks!

The pandemic has definitely caused printers to go up in price. I think because of supply chain issues and also people aren't shopping for profitable items so they're not offering loss leaders.

Unfortunately I'm in desperate need of one for work. So this is the cheapest one to buy at THIS moment.

I would like to buy a all in one in the future once prices become normal (prob sprint 2022)

I use to curse at inkjet printer from HP, Canon and EPSON, because it's always cheaper to buy new printer than buy new ink (fact: HP Ink costs much more than gold in weight). Every few month I would have a new printer that's useless yet cost more to keep it printing.

Ever since I bought my Brother, my annual toner cost is <$10, it's working tireless for me for 8 years and it doesn't jam, always prints perfectly.

Thank you Brother for making such a good product and keep toner cost low by not putting crazy anti-generic toner protections.
