I cant recommend these Brother Laser Printers enough! I have had mine (HL-2280DW) for eight years now and it still runs like a champ.

3rd party toner costs next to nothing and have never had a single issue with it. I swear it is going to outlive me at this rate.

Yeah this is only wired. It's the DW that's WiFi.

I got a couple of these new for $50 or $60 at Best Buy back in summer 2017. They work like champs & still going strong with no issues whatsoever.

From everything I can find, this model appears to be wired only. Are you sure that this works with 2.4 GHz?

So I wire this to Ethernet. I assume I can print from my laptops and devices without having to physically connect a printer cable from printer into the laptop ?

Basically a network printer
This one doesn't have ethernet.

I've got mine setup using CUPS and Pi4. The CUPS driver doesn't want to print any pdf that needs to be scaled to print, like Fit To Page, etc.. only likes Actual Size which is a real PIA. If you can pick up a wireless printer for $50-$60 more, I would go that route. I bought this new pre-covid for $50.
I don't have the problem you are describing and have had no problems printing PDFs. Have you installed the Brother driver on the computer you are printing from? I agree it's easier to get a printer with wireless built in, but I don't like throwing away a perfectly good printer.

While I do not have this model printer, I do like the Brother laser printer I do have, had it for over a year now and still on starter toner I do print a bit, though not that much.

Thanks OP, ships in April but was able to use a $15 off in my account. Will complement an old epson wwf inkjet that has been giving some problems printing but still works great for scanning and faxes. Can't beat $60 OTD.

A workhorse laser printer for sure! Got one with the 2100 series and still going strong. The best part, toner cost is next to nothing! We also use them for the Volunteer Tax preps and prints like two reams of paper a day and still working like champs after 3 years of use! Of course, tax seasons only last about 2.5 months. But still, a very reliable and cheap laser printer.

These pull a lot of current on the electric circuit. I have 2 of them.. They cause my LED lights to flicker on and off when the heating element first turns on and when it sits there in standby. This drastically shortens the life of the lights. It might also affect other sensitive components. All laser printers pull a lot of current but Brother printers are known to pull more because they use cheaper components in their power supply.

This is a workhorse of a printer. Had it for about 4 yrs now and not a single issue to be found. Tonner is cheap (you can get off brand).

This is only USB wired but I turned it to a full wifi printer with a raspberry pi.

Interesting. I've noticed the light flickering too. I thought I just had too many things connected but never experienced this before our purchase

All laser printers suck power when the heater comes on. The resistive load from a heater doesn't usually make lights flicker. Maybe the inrush from the power supply?

Connect it to a smart switch. Turn on/off as needed.
