Can someone weigh in on this?

If I sign up for the 80k promo for the preferred and let say a year or so later, I sign up for the reserve, would all my points be redeemable for 50% more redemption value? Preferred is currently at 25% more redmeptokn value versus reserve's 50%.
So long as you combine account points then redeem them all through the reserve portal

I have Chase Freedom Unlimited. I'm guessing I can't call and ask to upgrade for the bonus points? I could just have hubby sign up. Or maybe he'll just do AMEX platinum. Trying to bank points for a Europe trip next fall and I already have Amex Gold

Just left my Private Client banker: No go on getting the 80,000 offer.

He called twice; both times was told if the promo went the other way, would we be calling to delete 20,000 points?

Yikes.

Good luck to those that can get the 20,000 added.

Apologies if this has been asked but I went into the branch yesterday and they showed me the screen and it had the 80k points and the waived annual fee but I didn't see anything about a $50 Grocery credit. What are the details on that? Will I still get it if I sign up through the branch?

What did you try to do? Add 20k points after you had signed up already before the promo was active? No offense, but that is stupidity if you thought they were going to do that. You always have to sign up through the link or in branch after the offer is active. It has to be a new account. If you sign up 1 day before promo, thats tough luck, they arnt going accommodate that. It has to go through the computer system with the specific promo code or they arnt going to honor it.

Same answer. No of course not....Think of how stupid that would be if they just allowed people to upgrade cards all the time chasing promos."Hello Chase, Yes, I want to upgrade my current freedom card to Sapphire Premiere so I can get $1050!" lol. No. It always has to be a new account sign up, with the promo attached via link and while the promo is active.

On top of that, even if you were to sign up for the CSP during the 80K promo offer but used a 60K promo link instead expecting it to update to 80K points, that would also NOT qualify for the 80K points. They would definitely not accommodate that either! Thats just how it works. Dont even bother asking.

Yes they're able to expedite shipping in branch. The representative has to call in to make the request.
Thank you! Hopefully 1 photo ID and some credit cards are enough for them.

So I guess since I have had the Sapphire Reserve in the past (closed it 2 years ago), I am not eligible to get the in branch offer. That card does not show up in their system in my profile. My banker called and confirmed this. However, I am able to apply online but I will not get my annual fee waived.

If I cancel my card after I receive my bonus, will I get a partial/prorated refund on the annual fee?

Well damn, that seems a little strict. I'm hoping my Chase Business Visa card will work as a second ID. I don't have a second picture ID. I assume they can expedite the shipping in branch. Or at least I hope so. Going tomorrow. This worked out perfect as I just received my $750 reward with Chase Business card and can even deposit the money into a bank account. Now in for another $800.

Good luck! I'm not sure if it's a branch specific requirement, but in one of the Los Angeles branches I went to, they did ask if I have one of those documents the first time I went in. Hadn't taken it with me, so had to go home get the docs and then go back in.

You dont want to cancel the card right after receiving the bonus. Thats bad.... And no, they dont do prorated annual fees.... Sometimes some banks will waive the AF, cant hurt to ask, but some are a firm no on that. But cancelling the card right after getting the bonus is how you get blacklisted.

Also, im not sure exactly how it works with credit cards, but closing checking/savings accounts down right after receiving bonuses usually means you lose the bonuses. They will literally deduct the bonus from your account if closed early. They usually state this in the terms when you sign up. All banks are different but they usually require 6 months before allowing accounts to be closed to keep the bonus, so be careful. I dont know if credit cards do this though. I would wait a year imo before closing the cc. Close it right before the next AF due.

When you say "docs", you mean one of those other forms of ID was required? Thanks for the heads up. Not sure what I'll do now. Too far to drive to get rejected because of only 1 ID.

You were so helpful, you must be a long time chase customer. Oh wait, they actually have honored promotional changes that took place right around when I applied in the past. There is no harm in asking, its the equivalent of a price adjustment after the fact, etc.
