Call. Ask. Worked for me on the Chase IHG card when I was still in 75k point offer earnings period a 100k offer came out. The verbal update to bonus was followed by email confirmation.
No point. Chase is not matching.

So my wife already has the CSP and has been racking up points for a couple years now. Our plan had originally been for me to then get the CSR and have her transfer all the points to me to take advantage of the extra boost for travel purchases. COVID and travel lockdowns kinda of put that on ice in our original timeline, and now we're re-evaluating. Trying to decide if signing up for this offer would be better than the CSR offer for 20k less points is better, or switching gears entirely and getting the Amex Platinum which has 100k sign up offer plus 10x points on food and gas for 6mo.

Part of the motivator is I will be traveling for work once a month now. My work pays for the airfare. They book the rental car (National) and hotel (IGH/Holiday Inn) as well, but I pay and am reimbursed. From what I can tell it seems like CSR/CSP travel rewards will work better for that arrangement since I can't book them myself. So I'm sort of leaning towards one off those, but still not sure which is the better option.

Curious what other people's takes on this are and which of these 3 they would suggest? I'm also curious if there's any option to upgrade to CSR if you sign up for CSP?

wasn't CSR a once a lifetime only 100,000 Back with no fees for the first year?

No. I applied the day it went live. Annual fee was never waived, and at the time the bonus eligibility was ever 24 months. However, before the 24 months hit, Chase extended it to 48 months and introduced the one Sapphire product rule. You used to be able to get the Preferred and Reserve bonuses without affecting eligibility for the other.

Since your wife already has a bunch of points I would lean towards CSR and transfer points. Use points for the 1.5 reimburse until end of Sept:
Grocery stores
Home improvement stores
Dining establishments, including take-out and delivery services

$300 travel credit can be used on gas and groceries until EOY so you should be able to take advantage of that full credit.

If you plan to do any travel then the 1.5 thru the travel portal would probably push me over the edge to go with CSR. Amex is a good offer but is only once per lifetime where the CSR can be churned every 4 years. So I would go with CSR first and then you could double dip on the Amex, but based on Chase 5/24 rule and not knowing where you are I would go with CSR first. When annual fee comes up next year I would cancel though and move points to freedom or other UR card until you or the wife gets the CSP or CSR again.

Dumb question. If I have CSR, can I refer my spouse to get the CSP? Or are referrals card specific?

Referrals have their own specified bonus for the referee, and it's probably less than 80k points.

What kind of documentation do I need (for US Citizen) and what kind of questions do they ask if I apply the card in branch? Do I need my work address and paystubs also?

I gave them my drivers license, FOID card, and another credit card. They did not ask for pay stubs, they asked how long I have been employed and what my gross income was.

As long as you are 48 months from when the bonus points were given then you should be good.

Upgrade your Wife to the CSR assuming she has had the CSP for a year. You apply for the CSP and transfer the Points to your wife after you earn. Best of Both worlds.
