If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

This is the 1st time I see a free phone mentioned . What promo is it ?
Starting today, the iphone se is free when you add a line and port in a number. It was still showing up as 50% off on my account page, but when I chatted with the rep in the app they had all the new info. HTH

Try with the rep! Never hurts to ask or ask him to change your SOC code
Really? I have T-Mobile ONE with taxes included and currently have 5 free lines and my SOC code is eligible for this one as well. I can have up to 12 lines on my plan.

Called customer care and expert was not able to combine any of the promo with free voice line.
Unless they have pulled it, the SE is free but you must also port in a new number to get it for free.

That's why I said as a new customer, meaning new social/phone#/new lines
Except he said he wants to break away 2 lines from his current T-Mobile family plan. Even if he ports them out he has to wait 90 days to port them back in order to use those as one of the lines. If he does a TOL of existing t-mobile lines they can't replace any of the new 4 lines you mentioned. The issue is trying to create a new account by moving lines from an existing t-mobile account, they charge "normal" pricing for those. I tried to do that last year on the 4 lines belonging to my brother that are on my 10 line tmobile account; I tried to use the hook up promo and activate 2 get 1 free but they said I couldn't do that ; they said I could get those 3 new lines with the promo AND THEN move my brother's 4 lines in as other lines (can't replace those 3 new lines)

Opened new account at Costco last week with 2 paid lines and 1 free line. Am I eligible to add a 4th line for free? Magenta, FWIW.
Unfortunately no. I remember something where it just changes the promotion code on that free line to this new promo. It's stupid but that's how their system works.

do you have to port in a number on the spot? or can you wait to port in later and get the SE credit?

That's incorrect, the promo specifically points out this scenario. OP can add the free line today.

Another nice tempting TMO post that's not even 24 hrs old and already there are over 400 "comments", and I'm not even on TMO. I walked a friend through their free line deal months ago and he was very happy to get a spare phone but can't do it again (Covid fog). He has 4 paid and one free.

I guess I could text him through it again (last time he used Costco), but might it be easier to have him just call TMO CS or visit a local store? He's not at all tech savvy but assume the least he needs is a phone IMEI which I could provide from a spare.

I realize these posts can be confusing (from trying to read >50 pages from the last deal) but after a while you see many corrections from someone giving wrong information. Thanks for any info.

So I just added the free line and free iPhone SE by adding a line and porting a number.
Where did you do this through and what promos were used? Thank you.

Update from Reddit [reddit.com]: Update 2: There have been no changes to documentation. All phone promos are stackable on the free line, including iPhone SE "on us". Have fun.
There's also unconfirmed indication that the free line may end Monday.

Awesome, worked for a third line to my One plan and since it's autopay it went down to 115/month.

Rep also said I can port in my Sprint number once the sim comes in as they're still two separate systems.

10SCFM4 and NAFUTT4 are very similar plans. They both are $120/month for 4 lines as the base rate before any discounts or referral codes. They both use 10GB per line initially as the monthly data, but have since been grandfathered to Unlimited data. They also have 10GB mobile hotspot before throttling occurs. The main difference is NAFUTT4 seems to qualify for all these free line deals.
I think they are pretty much the same except like you said about the free lines for NAFUTT4 but 10SCFM4 is eligible for corporate / government discount. A lot of us on that plan don't want to switch over because of that. If the discount is not much I would switch to NAFUTT4 because I believe that has the unlimited high speed (LTE) data option for every line; 10SCFM4 only has it for the lines that got the promo text 2 years ago, new lines only has 10GB LTE data
