If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

The CSR I talked to insists that I need to activate a line and buy a phone and, then, he can give me a free line. It is a waste of my time. Is that really the case?
I am on Magenta plan with 6 voice lines (one line is free from last year's promotion) and 2 data lines.
that is false for magenta. just find a better tforce rep or just add a line online from your account. i prefer the former so as to document the facts, even if i just add the line from my account afterwards

I used the T-mobile App to talk to a representative named Jocel to add a free line and port-in a number to try to get a free iPhone SE. The rep replaced my current phone number with the port-in number!!!!! I specially confirmed with the rep that I want the port-in for the newly added line. That's ridiculous!!!! So be careful when you get Jocel as your rep. Find another one.

spoke with tmobile representative online and they mentioned only 1 free line per account, how are you all getting more then 1 free line on your accounts?
One free line per promotion. I have 4 of my 8 lines free. If you get this promotion and in a couple of months there is a new free line promotion, you would be eligible

Got a few Cricket numbers to port out for $5 AGC. PM me and I'll check tomorrow when I wake up. If you want to try to soft unlock the iphones, you can check out my post for ios 14.3

If you have a new account with a PM limit, please send me your email address in your PM so I can reply back to you. Can't help you if I can't reply back to you.
Does the soft unlock work for the latest iOS version 14.4/14.4.1?

Just carelessness in general. They must be chatting with 50 people at a time. T-Force did the same thing to me before when CSR ported over into my primary Line. They had a submit a request to their "offline" team to resolve.

I haven't tried it since my phones are unlocked. I can confirm that my soft unlocked 14.3 phones still are unlocked after updating to 14.4.1

Thanks OP, qualified for the free for the first time ever, for some reason my SOC was always excluded. Just called and added a free line with free iPhone SE.

holy hell that's an amazing price. you've gamed the system better than me. i'm at:
  • $160/m
  • 9 lines
    • 6 paid
    • 3 free
  • insider discount
it's a bit tough to convince others on my plan to cancel their line though so we could lower the bill. most people don't want to change their phone numbers Frown
It can be done - I was in the same boat where I did not want to change my number. I was able to do so by porting those numbers to google voice and using the call forward functionality to the new number for 3-4 months and then actually ported those numbers back to t-mobile on the new account. For external callers there was no difference as they were still calling the same old number during that entire timeframe.

I believe the Iphone 12 with a trade in / port is the better deal, if you can handle the extra work.

I have a SE(original) that is on iOS 12.X that was unlocked with a Rsim 12+. I would like to update the iOS for the bells and whistles but was afraid I would need to buy a new Rsim until I saw your message just now
