If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

Is there any reason for me to worry?

I started the process march 17 at ~430pm CST and finalized it at ~8pm CST on March 17.

I did the following things: Got a free new line, used the iPhone 12 on us with the new line (port from vzw), and upgrade a current iphone on tmo account to 12 for the $415 trade in.

Whenever i go to click on order status, it just spins and spins on the website. When i click on account history, i am seeing a new line was added and it says $0 but than it enrolled the new line for the 2021 Apple Trade P1 and is only showing a monthly credit of 9.92/month.

I don't even see anything yet about my tmo phone being upgraded to the 12.

It makes me feel like they goofed up and put the $415 credit on the new line, and no idea what is going on with the current line.

I'm unsure whether i need to wait a few days for things to update or panic?

Just added a line at Costco. They also gave me a $150 rebate form for BYOD. Rebate form says starting from 17th ending 18th.
Did they actually require you to have the physical BYOD phone or would a screenshot of IMEI number be enough?

If you are looking for Cricket Wireless number (AT&T) for porting to T-Mobile, you can post a request on this thread or this other thread. There are plenty of folks on those threads with burner Cricket accounts.

Here is my current scenario:
Line 1 & 2: Paid
Line 3: Free (3rd line free promo from before)
Line 4 to 6: Free (free line promos in 2020)
Line 7: Paid (recent costco $300 deal for byod)
Line 8: Free (buy one get one with the costco deal)

I do plan to cancel lines 7 and 8 once I receive the costco shop card. Is it worth adding this new free line? Will it affect my ability to cancel line 7 and 8? I am hoping none of these affect my discounts on lines 1 to 6.
You will Not even care to Cancel anything if your Plan becomes close to this after adding your 9th Line Free. (3 paid, 6 free)

guys, are you able to stack free line with costco $150 BYOD rebate? Wiki said, its cannot be combined. That means we don't get free line discount? How do they even know as mypromochoice is different from tmobile rebates ?

Of course military is excluded... Not much of a discount to existing military and 55+ lines if you have multiple lines... makes me feel like my military line bill is going up whenever i see the free line promo.
Feel the same way!!!

I was going to port-in a Tracfone number, which I got with a cheapo HSN LG phone but was told it was not good for the promotion ($830 off iPhone 12).

You can get the following phones for free with the free line and you do not need to port in a phone number. You do need to pay tax on the normal price of the phone. These phones are currently free with any new line.
Moto G Play
Samsung Galaxy A11
T-mobile Revvl 4
T-mobile Revvl 4+
LG K51
LG Stylo 6
LG Aristo 5
Which is the best one and how do we get it?

I think it's ymmv. I have seen in past reps deny and also approve printed copies.

Regarding rebate.. who knows of it would work but no harm in trying .. worst case it gets denied then you call and argue with some useless rep. Yes I have had to do this.

Since the Costco rebate expires today and Costco closes soon I'm debating ..
