If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

Was pretty sure it was on the list yesterday because I was doing a double take. Doesn't matter since it isn't eligible as usual.
So according to the wiki and Reddit, they reverted the eligible SOC list to the previous one but I don't see 10SCFM4 on there (the original SOC list). Too bad i would go for it

For 9-12 lines, it will be $310 for 9 lines without autopay + $30 for additional lines. You have 2 free lines now, and will have the 9th line free.
So for 9 lines (9th line free) it should be:
$310 - $40 (autopay discount) - $54 (Hook up Insider discount) - $30 X 3 for free lines = $126.
Oh, I see now how the math works. Thank you so much! Wanted to rep, but somehow the system doesn't let me. Will try to figure it out.

Looks like it definitely makes sense for me to get this free line. I'd prefer doing it at costco.
Is it safer to upgrade my plan to 9-12 Magenta first via chat or T-force before going to costco? I am not sure if costco kiosk rep can do this plan upgrade the right way. Probably s/he will have to call T-Mobile anyway to move my plan to a new bracket.

As I understand, I may have to chose between MAGENTA9 and MGNTA9. SDers' consensus seems to be that upgrading to a new Magenta with 5GB hotspot (MGNTA9?) is worth it. Am I getting it right? Thanks again!

Anyone can help? I set up a google voice free line and gave that number to agent but I get a text saying this number is not transferable and the rep asked me for account number for that port in number which I didn't have . She told me she tried anyway without account number for that line and later I got this text saying this number is not transferrable. Anyone can help.? I have ordered the iPhone SE but haven't received it yet and I gave the SIM card number to agent already

Have you unlocked the google voice line [google.com]?

BTW, even if the line is unlocked, it may not qualify for the port in since Google Voice is consider a landline. YMMV.

I think it is qualified because the number is from competitor carrier. I another number from Ting-Verizon number for $4 AGC. Please pm me if you are interested. TIA
The reason I asked is because my TracFone number was denied for the promotion. My specific TracFone number uses LTE-V network which is with Verizon. The rep I talked to told me that it's hit or miss if the number is with a prepaid carrier.

In the recent past I was able to port to Metro (T-MO). No issues.

Unlock your number here to allow it to be ported out: https://www.google.com/voice/b/0/unlock

Your account number is your 10 digit GV phone number and your account PIN is your voicemail PIN code.

I could be wrong, but being able to port in and being able to be qualified for the promotion are two different thing.

If the 9th line you're adding is free, your monthly cost will still be $160.

If it's a paid 9th line, your total will be $176. The 9th thru 12th lines are normally +$30 each but one of your existing free lines will automatically take over that $30 slot so your adding $20 - 20% hookup.

If you're looking at it online showing the $270 total, that doesn't include all of your discounts/free lines. $270 - $30 free 9th line - $20 free 8th line - $44 (20% hookup on remaining $220) = $176. Or it's $270 - $30 free 9th line - $20 free 8th line - $20 free 7th line - $40 (20% on remaining $200) = $160.

MAGENTA9 is the original Magenta 1.0 plan and MGNTA9 is the newly announced Magenta plan (5GB hotspot, 100GB priority data). Definitely switch to the new Magenta plan as your free lines and hookup transfer over; there's no downside to the switch.
Thanks a lot! Just saw your response. 9-12 line numbers are completely new to me lol. I expect 9th to be free. Even if it's not, still makes sense to get it imho. Yes, looks like $270 doesn't include my existing discounts, and it looks like MGNTA9 with 5GB hotspot and 100GB priority data. I am attaching that screenshot here.

Switching to MGNTA9: is it sort of automatic/default route in the T-Mobile system for current Magenta 1.0 upgrades? Meaning is it risky doing this upgrade at costco kiosk while opening a 9th line? Don't want to lose hookup and existing two free lines in transition. Smilie
