If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

Suppose to be one or the other but T-Mobile system is bad. Won't catch all the mistakes. People have been known to get both.
Others manage to get it even after being denied by complaining and b**ching.
People will just continue to game the system since there is no penalty, as of now.
myericI thought when you do the the iphone+port in, it will invalid your BYOD.
That's what I thought as well. Assumed you had to activate the new line, port in the number, and do the trade in all directly through T-Mobile to get the trade-in credit.

Not sure I want to risk not getting the trade-in credit if they deny me b/c I added the new line through Costco instead of through T-Mobile. They denied my $100 rebate last year for porting in a new number through Costco instead of directly through T-Mobile.

so i chatted with tfroce on twitter and that rep is so quick on the fingers that i simply asked him the differences between TIULFM9 vs FRLTULFM9 and he went and switched me over to TIULFM9 without my permission. then i asked about FF 2 lines on us promo compatibility with FRLTULFM9 and then he switched me over again to that plan without my permission LOL. from my online account, im seeing my hook up, kick back and 4 free lines from last yr are sticking. hook up discount went from $32 to $62 before i even added 9th line.

nevertheless, he was unable to add ff 2 lines on us promo back with FRLTULFM9 even though you said you confirmed couple others had it on their FRLTULFM9 plan. oh well

last thing about google voice # being ineligible. rep also said free google service dont qualify as port in for the iphone deal. however, he checked out the google # i gave him and hes seeing those google voice # as LANDLINE !!! which means landline qualify for the port in. i guess it depends on your google nume whether tmobile seeing them as landline or as voip num
My rep did the same thing going from 8 lines to 9. Rateplan is now FRLTULFM9.

I am on the Simple Plan plan. My SOC is on the list so it means I am qualified. If I add a free 3rd line, am I eligible to get the "Get up to $830 off iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, or iPhone 12 Pro Max via 24 monthly bill credits when you activate a line, bring your number, and trade in an eligible device." deal? Thanks!

I am looking to add the free line and use $830 off iphone 12 with trade-in.
Currently have 4 lines on Magenta Plus (2 paid and 2 free). SOC is in the list posted.
If I add a 5th line (free) through this promo and get a phone, would it be okay if I use one of the existing numbers in the new device and leave the new number idle without any device?

Just finished chatting with a rep. I was able to get the Iphone 12 for $92.06 and I have to trade in my Iphone X. I will be getting 24 monthly credits of ~$34.58. I asked if I had to port in a new line or do anything else, and the rep said "no, just mail in your phone when you get the Iphone 12". Hopefully this doesnt cause any problems since I was not required to port in a phone number. Anyone else have a similar experience?

This happened to me when they migrated my plan from Magenta 8 lines to 9-12 lines to 2020 LOU3. The 2020 3rd LOU3 and 2020 LOU2 got lost. The rep also told me 3rd LOU3 cannot combine with LOU3. But when I added a line in Dec, instead of getting 2020 LOU4, I got 2020 3rd LOU3. T-Mobile system is weird.
2020 Line on Us 3 - 20Q43P
2020 3rd Line On Us 3 - 20Q33S
2021 Line on Us 6 - 21Q14S
It may not help as my experience. Even though I shared with the rep that 3rd LOU3 can stack with LOU3 for some other accounts with screenshot, the rep said she can not talk with other accounts with me for security reasons and insist that LOU3 cannot stack with 3rd LOU3. Good luck, anyways.
same.
it depends on the rep you get. The rep who changed my dad's account made the mistake and the next one could not fix it. after a while, they noted (hard note!) on my account that the promotions could not be combined so any rep after just refer to that note without even bother going further. After much complaining, a supervisor said they couldn't fix it and the best they could do was offering 3 months worth of fee for the lost line ($90) and call it a day. Anytime i call in for my dad, they refer to that and refused to do anything about it. This is also after i show them another account of which I am also an authorized user and can represent for. they just said it's different for different account due to system set up, nothing can be done. both account have same SOC code LMAO

Thank you for responding. I got a break down and besides the taxes and activation fees I'm being that I have to put a down payment down. I've had other new lines on the account and have devices on EIP's and only had to pay the taxes. I asked why is additional fee such as a down payment required and I'm waiting for the rep to come back.
It's going to be due to your credit line being maxed out. Unless the upfront cost is a huge problem it would be best to at least lock in the free line on us before that promo ends and given there may be slow response due to high demand. You can place the phone order a few days, maybe a week later and just DM them to request that Tforce attach the promo to the new phone. They'll probably tell you it's automatically done by the system but they'll make it right if the promo doesn't attach. (I've had all of this happen to me twice recently) Tmobile promos leave people wondering at the time of commitment whether things went correctly because the communication and timing are sloppy so it's best just try get as much documented through DM and trust you can fall back on that documentation if something goes wrong. I've also had it where things go smoothly without intervention but DM doesn't take much effort and is better safe than sorry.

That shouldn't be a problem.

However, you need to make sure that you purchase/apply the new iPhone 12 to the new line when you order it and port-in a number to the new line as those are the requirements for the promo. Once you get the phone, it doesn't matter which line you use it with.

probably the issue is fixed. I did the B1G1 at Costco from 7 lines to 9 lines. All my Free line On Us promo carried over.
Did you get your SOC changed to 9 line plan by Costco kiosk rep while adding lines? Or got it done through T-Mobile prior to visiting Costco?
