If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

T-Mobile device promos usually involve bill credits. Depending on available credit may determine how much you pay up front, sometimes it's just taxes and fees. But the offsetting credit to make the device free or heavily discounted is applied as monthly bill credits over time. So kinda like a contract where you have financial loss and forgo remaining bill credits if you terminate the account.
Thank you for responding. I got a break down and besides the taxes and activation fees I'm being that I have to put a down payment down. I've had other new lines on the account and have devices on EIP's and only had to pay the taxes. I asked why is additional fee such as a down payment required and I'm waiting for the rep to come back.

For those of you taking advantage of the free line and phone offers, can I use the phone with another existing sim/line or is it tied to the new line #?
You should be able to swap SIMs with another phone on the same account. You can just confirm it with CS just to make sure that the bill credits are not messed up. Otherwise, there is nothing enforced to keep the phone (IMEI) / SIM (ICCID) paired.

For the people who said the Free Line + Pixel 4a 5g $175 promo doesn't stack, here is my convo with T-Force. I already have the order processed. If they ask about the $30 cover charge for sim/activation, just act stupid as hell and pretend you didn't know about that fee, they waived it for me.
This worked for me as well. Free line and 50% off pixel stacked just fine.

I verified my SOC is eligible but when I try to add the free line it says it'll be $20 monthly. I added a free line within the last year, wonder if I'm not eligible because of that or are other people seeing the $20 per month charge?

how did you get the free SE? I only see 50% off SE
The rep I am talking to right now says that the port-in is required for the iphone SE and has to be not from Sprint, Metro by TMobile etc. The free iphone SE is available starting today but just not advertised yet on TMobile website.

Wondering the same for costco BOGO s21+ @749 each? can they stack with free line? seems the equivalent tmo deal works.

also i see the costco $300 byod (now $150) does not stack with this AAL deal. . .but what about the costco $100 new line rebate?

Check the wiki from the previous free line deal and decide if you want to try switch plans to become eligible:

So what companies can the port be from and be eligible? Does anyone have a list?
