That's nice! But, are there two promos now for 12? I see the old one w/ port still on the main page, but this one in the Phones section when looking at 12. The eligible phones list has been shuffled iPhone 6 series now dropped altogether on the new one.
It's weird. If you go to https://www.t-mobile.com/offers/p...onaloffers
the newest deal is the 2021 Apple Activate P3

Start Date: March 24, 2021
Credit: up to $34.58/mo. for 24 months

If you cancel your line before receiving 24 bill credits, you may owe up to the full value of your device (e.g. $499.99 – Apple iPhone XR / $699.99 –iPhone XS / $599.99 –iPhone 11 / $899.99 – iPhone 11 Pro / $999.99 – iPhone 11 Pro Max / $829.99 – iPhone 12 / $729.99 – iPhone 12 mini / $999.99 – iPhone 12 Pro / $1,099.99 – iPhone 12 Pro Max); if canceling your account, you can contact us first to instead make discounted monthly balance payments. Tax on pre-credit price due at sale. Limited-time offer; subject to change. Qualifying credit, additional line, & trade-in ($830: Apple iPhone 11 series, XS series, XR, X, 8 series; Samsung A71, A71 5G, Fold, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy S20 series, Note9, Note10 series, Z Flip 5G, GS21 series, Note 20 series; Google Pixel 4 series; LG V50 , V60 5G; Asus Rog Phone2; Motorola RAZR; OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, 7T, 7T Pro 5G McLaren, 8 5G, 8 Pro. $530: Apple iPhone 7, 7 Plus, SE2. $380: Apple iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, 6, 6 Plus; Samsung A20, A20s, A30, A50, A50s, A51, A70, A8+, A9, Galaxy S7 series, Galaxy S8 series, Note5, Note8; Google Pixel 2 series, 3 series, 3a series; LG G7 series, G8 series, K51, Stylo6, V35, V40; Motorola Z4, RED Hydrogen One, Rzr Phone, Rzr 2; Huawei P20 Lite; Kyocera DuraForce Pro 2; OnePlus 5, 5T, 6, 6T, 7 Pro.) required. If you have cancelled lines in past 90 days, you may need to reactivate them first. $10 SIM card and, in stores & on customer service calls, $20 assisted or upgrade support charge may be required. Up to $830 via trade-in credit and bill credits; must be active and in good standing to receive credits; allow 2 bill cycles. Max 4 discounted devices/account. The same line # is active, and again I'm not sure that they really check for continued use details, and if so only that the line is still active when they validate. The promo is for opening the line. Though technically it is YMMV to claim a BYOD rebate from Costco AND claim a promo phone deal from TMO. . .
Costco doesn't use the IMEI to validate. They need a place filler in their own system to complete the order on BYOD transactions. Most Costco reps will ask for an IMEI to be presented because of this. If you get a really good Kiosk rep, he will know how to put in a dummy IMEI. . .meaning they don't use it for anything further.
So I'm wondering.. order the phone via t-mobile and the eip is associated to the line. Then keep the new phone in the box or use it on another line.

Leave the byod phone and sim from Costco in place for at least a month or until rebate is processed.

Thoughts?

8 series went to lower tier losing $230 in value. This is what I was afraid of. It could get better in the next promos, but not guaranteed. 6 series got dropped but 6S series got bumped in value.
True... but my iPhone-6 is also locked, can't use RSIM since the iOS is old (can't update from Apple), so all in all the locked iPhone-6 is kinda PITA in my opinion so better to get rid of it even for 380 value !
I agree, I could send my iPhone-7 or iPhone-8 for better trade-in value but those will bump up again in trade-in tier like last year and what will I do with iPhone-6 in that case? LOL

I sold off two first generation iPhone SE for around $60-65 each on OfferUp last year after over 2 years of use. Their trade-in values were around $200-215 then. However, I would be paying over $500 for the new phone. So, I got rid of the 7 from Cricket instead of trading in the SEs.

As xtrabad said above, your chances of fetching max value for 7 and 8 are running out and unsure if it would still fetch similar later this year. Even if you are to sell iPhone 6 and 7 now for $150-200 combined, you will be saving around $600-650 ($450 for iPhone 12 + 6/7 sale) by giving away your 8, rather than taking a chance with 7 / 8 in the future.
Yeah, but my iPhone-6 is Verizon locked so I am not sure who will buy it even for $50 !
Trading-in 7 is bad deal since it will maintain it's tier for a while.
iphone-8 is (actually WAS) in the 830 tier and iPhone-6 was in the 380 tier !
You guys still think I should send iPhone-8 (ATT locked) instead of iPhone-6 (Verizon locked)?

Correct. But since we are in the thread of a free line beginning March 17 one would have gotten the free line before it ended.

You may want to trade your iPhone 8. It is probably not going to be in the top tier for trade value after this round.

You are passing up an extra $450 just because you want to dump an old iPhone 6.

You can throw the iPhone 6 in a lake and still come out ahead by trading in the 8.

If you cannot sell the 6, use it as a remote or iPod. Or use it as a backup phone you take to the beach or boating, or any place where it might be trashed or stolen. Or leave it in the car for emergency use, or as a decoy for thieves to steal.
ummm...
you guys are making me change my mind now...lol
So assuming I don't get ANY value from iPhone-6, is it still better to send in the iPhone-8?

My impression is, yesterday's free line cannot be stacked with today's new phone promo. Since the freeline already ended before the new phone promo started.

I have iphone 6s. I still used my iPhone 8 for this deal. Just common sense.

I'm under the impression that there is 14 days grace period from day of adding the line.
We'll see as I am trying to add the promo now via T Force but they are taking hours to respond to each question.

I think you should still be able to unlock your Verizon or AT&T iPhones as a non-customer. I have done that at least with AT&T in the past.

https://www.verizon.com/support/d...king-faqs/ - if iPhone 6 is from VZ postpaid, it should already be unlocked now. VZ was one of the less restrictive carriers earlier for locking devices.

As xtrabad said, you are better off keeping iPhone 6 as a spare and trading in the 8.

Iphone 8 with fetch $830 for this deal versus a lower tier (around 500-600) for future deals. You gain $200+ in this deal with trade-in of Iphone 8. I would try and get the maximum $ off on any trade-in. Iphones 6 and & could be used as backups, sold separately, or used for trade-in on a future deal.

The grace period allows you to add promos for new lines as long as the promo was running at the time you added the line.

You folks were right. Promo T538 is not valid for this free new line (March 17) deal. They say the promo is not valid unless I added a line today.
I'm not sure why some people brought up there will be a new iPhone promo coming. They must not know it that won't apply to this free line like I wasn't.
