Garmin makes watches that connect via bluetooth to play music, but since it's normal to carry your phone as a cyclist, there isn't really a need for that. I still use my phone to play podcasts & music, take the occasional pictures, and connect to my bike computer to have texts or other notifications show up onto my bike computer screen.
I use a Garmin forerunner 645 watch to run, and Wahoo ELEMNT ROAM to bike.
I bike commute about 25 miles round trip to work on days that aren't bad weather or ridiculously cold, along with other various rides of various lengths. I'm able to track just about any stat that I personally need. I have current time, elapsed time, elevation gain, speed, avg speed, heart rate, calories burned, and distance all on the screen at once. It's easy to read.
I have a Wahoo Tickr Fit HR monitor paired with it and it works great.
Overall, no complaints after about 2,000 miles ridden with it so far. I haven't really needed to use some of the other features like mapping yet, so I can't speak to those.
Lastly, I'd highly recommend using the out front mount. I bought a 3rd party under handlebar one that mounts to the bottom of my hoverbar on my Canyon Grail and it's in perfect view for just about any riding position.

For a purely casual rider, sure, get a phone mount and use that. But for anyone who enjoys a more streamlined experience, a bike computer is a must.
