Ajit Pai deserves to rot in jail.
It's future proof and the price is right but only if you run ethernet to your computer.

usually, once you go over 1.2tb, its not a simple 50gb anymore, usually its more than a couple hundred gigs.
i just want to tell everyone that there is no need to buy a modem (and a router) if they are going for unlimited data. sign up with xfi complete, get everything included for $5 less than you buy your own modem (and a router) and sign up with their seperate unlimited data plan, which is $30.
do they watch any shows? or some repeated music clips? nowaday, those music youtube clips could be 2gb easily for a 1.5 hr music. thats only 1 time listening. think of how many times they keep listening to them...all day long

In all fairness, modem manufacturers also supply the ISPs with open source firmware that gets loaded on when you are first provisioned.
So if they want to screw you over, invade your privacy, or completely brick your modem, they're going to do it regardless of which modem you use.
If they're a shady company like Comcast, the best course of action is not deal with them at all.
Failing that, get a good VPN.

Yeah but the modem, particularly the UI of the xFi Complete modem, is hot garbage and lacks some very necessary features for some.
you dont have to stay with them unless you have no choice. in that case, i wouldnt blame on them.
i just switched to tmobile 5g home internet (for unlimited data) but the speed is really not consitent. so will have to switch back to xfinity soon. they are still the cheapest in our area, even after the promo is over. they know their market. i already called in a hundred times to ask for a better rate after 1 year promo was over. they wouldnt budge. other competitors in my area require 2 year agreement and at least $20 more for the same speed.
1. Comcast/Xfinity is no longer offering the xFi complete package.
2. What kind of speeds are you seeing with TMobile 5g home internet? Also, are you still unable to do port forwarding with their gateway (I assume you have the newer Nokia)?

2. ranging from 5 mbps to 140 mbps with 3 bars. very inconsistent. most of the time is like 40 mbps.
yes, i have the newer nokia (made in vietnam) 5g box. i use its own built in router function. no options to bridge i think. at default, it somehow broadcasts both 5ghz and 2.4ghz with the same ssid name. i dont know how its possible but the 2.4ghz ssid isnt really working until i signed in their admin page to change that same ssid to something else. not really reliable though because just today, i got no internet at all, restarted the box and my 2.4 ghz ssid is somehow changed back to the same name with the 5ghz ssid.

1. Not surprising and another reason Comcast sucks.
2. Bridging 2.4 and 5GHz with the same SSID is fairly standard stuff. I haven't seen a router that doesn't do that in over 10 years. Part of the AC standard is for devices to auto negotiate the best/most stable band

for xfi box, i think we can always bridge to your own router.

anyway, i decided to return it. paid $50 for 1 month of "trial". they didnt budge when i mentioned about the "trial". 1 month wasted.
the tmobile box sometimes can kick in the battery, sometimes failed to. so when i move around the house to get better signal. on the first few weeks, after i unplug it, it would kick into battery mode. but somehow, for the last whole week, the box turned off everytime i unplugged it. no internet, no power whatsoever. battery is still full.
getting max of 140mbps and avg on the 50mbps isnt worth it. not very consistent. i am back to xfinity where i pay only $50 for 400 mpbs. 1 year agreement though.
see you next year. 5g.
