There is a reason they don't put the weight in the BB specs. This is a 4lb+ laptop. Also, the screen isn't IPS. The storage specs and CPU is fine. But the graphics card is weak.
It is a decent machine as a workstation replacement for people that do code development, image processing, etc. Not a gaming machine but not every laptop needs to be a gaming machine.

Who told you the screen is not IPS? Have you checked anywhere?
So looks like once in a while we won't see folks complaining about 8gb of ram, non-IPS or non-touch screen or build quality, but hey, how about those not-amd, 300-nits-is-bad, 4-lb-is-heavy, not-4k idealists? =D
Jokes aside, this seems to be a great price for all-around quality laptop.

Touch pad is too wide. Will be an issue for some with right palm resting on it while typing.

Asus isn't using IPS screens on laptops anymore. They have their own version of IPS that they call IPS-level. The problem is that quality of these panels aren't as consistent as the ones legally allowed to be called IPS by the licensor. Asus uses the licensed IPS screens on their monitors.
This doesn't move the needle IMO, graphics card is nice but it's not a great price.
I've been shopping for 15s for a little while now. Looking for the usual specs (12-16GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, Ryzen 4700U or i7-1165G7, superior build quality, FHD screen with lots of nits) for, you know, like $600. Makes sense, right? :-)
I can't link it but my local Costco has a Lenovo Ideapad 500 series for $749 with 12 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD and a i7-1165G7. Lenovo website has the same machine except with only 8 GB RAM for $899. It's not a smoking deal (like the Costco Lenovo 14" posted here for $600) but it's the best I see currently for a 15.6 incher. (For those of you who might remember, this was posted here at $100 off for $649 about a month ago.)

Seems odd to call out the weight, wouldn't 4.2 pounds be considered light for a 15" laptop? Especially one with a 2 in 1 touch screen. XPS 15 and HP Spectre x360 are both 4.5 pounds.

No,it is not light. But laptops fall in many tiers of use. As desktop replacements, they don't need to be light. Because the main use case is not portable use but ability to carry from say home to work and vice versa at most. Here you are compromising power/ruggedness/battery life for weight. That is why I said, it is a good workstation replacement because it has computing power and good storage specs but it is not a laptop to be lugging around. 4lb+ doesn't sell well, hencw why it is left out of BB specs.
For portable use, there are "ultra" categories where ideally you want around 3lb or less. LG makes very light machines even in 15 or 17" sizes.
This laptop is built rugged and has a huge battery. So, it weighs a lot. But as long as it is understood and not something you intend to lug around frequently, it is fine.
I get all that, not saying 4.2 lbs is light but that it is light for a 15 inch 2 in 1 laptop. It's all about size, 13 inch laptops are typically ultrabooks while 15 are typically desktop replacement. The 13 inch version of this is about 2.8 lbs while this is 4.2. Similar to how the 13 inch XPS and Spectre are sub 3 lbs while the 15 inch variants are 4.2+. The LG Gram line is an exception which strives for lower weight at the expense of performance.
Best Buy has a 15 inch Spectre x360 model with a much weaker mx330 and a listed weight of 4.23 lbs. I don't think this Asus laptop has any reason to hide its weight when its primary competition has the same or higher weight.

This has some features which actually we see in higher end 15.6" Laptops like MSI Prestige 15 or new Summit series, costing almost $1200 or higher.

Also, anyone know what version HDMI port that is?
The specs are on the ASUS web site.
