Even the fact it's corded, the middle scroll wheel is rounded which is comfortable for long 3D modeling sessions, it's also pretty solid and doesn't slide or feel flimsy when you move the button from left to right. All the new mice have this weird tire feel to them and feels cheap and wobbly. Let's not get started with the eventual double click issue (google / reddit it). It's not if it happens, it's when.
And in case you're wondering if I've tried others, yes, I've owned quite a few Logitech mice. After Logi stopped selling them a few years back, I was so sad. I eventually moved over to a G400 which was a lighter cheaper version of the MX518. It was okay but definitely wasn't the MX518. I also have a G903 and eventually the G703 for the wireless charging capabilities on the overpriced charging mouse pad.
I was very happy when they announced a revival of the MX518. I ended up buying 3 of them when they dropped to $20, which is a no brainer at that price.
The only thing that could make it perfect is a wireless version. Otherwise it's a great mouse. Is it for everybody? No, but calling it the worst is a bit far fetched.
The best mouse right now IMO hands down, is the Logitech G Pro X Superlight Wireless Gaming Mouse. Is it a ripoff at $149, yes absolutely. When I first tried it it was actually too light and I was a little hestitant about it... but paired with the wireless charging battery from PowerPlay mouse pad, it's the perfect weight, ergonomics and build quality (middle mouse is rounded but is also not flimsy) and so far it's worked perfectly.
But going back to the MX518, at $20 dollars? Uhm yeah, it's not a good mouse, it's a great mouse.

And more importantly, why?
Even if you're left handed, there's nothing to like about this mouse, as it's not perfectly center weighted.
